Anyone here seen the White Stripes "Under Black Pool Lights"? I was told it was shot entirely on super 8 and it looks like it could be, but the IMDB says it's both 16 and S8. Anyone know any details? And if you haven't seen it, it's pretty amazing.

Re: Vision 3 500T (in super 8) is available through Kodak!
I know that common knowledge states a negative cannot be projected or telecined via devices such as the Workprinter, but I figured what's there to lose in trying? Look forward to hearing how it goes. Thanks, Art I am not sure where that common knowledge comes from Art. Here in Toronto I can get neg...

Re: DI workflow
Christoph: So,my final question is: how is the original film synced with the EDL? In a super-16 world the film wouldn't have any sort of time code. From what I've seen of an EDL, it's like XML with timecode markers right? Adam. 15mm (and 35mm) film has an "edgecode": every foot there is a...

amusing/heartbreaking goodwill story
Saw a 35mm SLR camera at the Goodwill today and the clowns stuck the price tag on the middle of the lens. Laugh or cry?

Re: highspeed stock vs. 18fps?
The fps has little to do with it. The question is, what camera are you shooting? Does it recognize the 500? Since it likely does not, what does the camera "think" it is and can you compensate with the manual exposure override? I wrote this assuming you are using the itnernal meter. If usin...

Re: damaging super8film while projecting to create crazy effects
John Porter recently projected a film were he intentionally burned almost every frame. It was fascinating to watch. He would simply stop the projector, let the frame heat up and melt, and the put it back to run before it snapped completely. And Old Uncle Barry, John Porter is absolute lover (worship...

Is it something about the 64D in particular? I just warned him against pro8 in general.MoonstruckProductions wrote:Rick Said:

That would have been the first clue that something was wrong.

Re: Best widescreen transfer to HD in the US
Update: The company that hired my friend had already decided to use Pro8 64D. He shot about 9 rolls. Three of them came out black. One had intermittent fogging throughout. He asked me if the black film and fogging could be from the camera malfunctioning. I said not likely since most of the rolls wer...

We Canadians rock even harder. All our amplifiers go to 11 for example (11.5 in New Foundland). In Spinal Tap it was a joke but here it's real.

Paranoid neighbors alter course of shoot: I have a large picture window looking out onto my street. I was in the midst of a simple day-long timelapse of the skyline across my street when I got a knock on the door from the police. I guess a paranoid neighbor saw the camera pointing out of my window ...

Water alters course of shoot
So I have been painstakingly shooting 20 frames a day out my window for at least 4 months, capturing a building being contructed next door. They are about half way through and I was near the end of the first cart when a pipe breaks and water starts leaking into my floorboards. In short order it was ...

Re: "Pass The Cart" project, Official Thread
If someone has gone AWOL simply skip them over and send to the next shooter. Either they get back on the slide or we find another shooter to take their place. No need for it to delay everything though.
