white stripes on S8

Post by Rick Palidwor »

Anyone here seen the White Stripes "Under Black Pool Lights"? I was told it was shot entirely on super 8 and it looks like it could be, but the IMDB says it's both 16 and S8. Anyone know any details? And if you haven't seen it, it's pretty amazing.

Apparently, Pro8mm did the work on this. It was in their news letter a while back. They also said it was 16 and 8. Haven't seen it, but I guess they did it all with Pro8 equipment, or film.

The DVD does show some "making of" - the interesting bit is how they got sync with constantly changing cartridges using multiple cameras!

I have the video and its pretty good (assuming you like the Stripes of course). Its S8 but it looks like they shot a wide safety on 16 as the grain becomes finer on those shots. The movie is extremely grainy to the point it might be distracting at times for a general audience.
