highspeed stock vs. 18fps?
hello.
i was wondering how 18fps would expose on Vision 2 500T stock?

It should look fantastic - you'll gather plenty of light and still be able to stop the lens down a bit for sharpness when the light drops.

The fps has little to do with it. The question is, what camera are you shooting? Does it recognize the 500? Since it likely does not, what does the camera "think" it is and can you compensate with the manual exposure override?
I wrote this assuming you are using the itnernal meter. If using an external meter this is less of an issue, except for the manual override part. If your camera is auto-exposure only it will very likely not expose it properly.

Some very nice looking footage. Where did you get the film processed and telecined? Also loved the Weimaraner. Thanks for that footage (aren't they great photo subjects?). I had one for 13 years. Maybe it's time to get one again.

Many thanks! Processing was done by Spectra. The telecine was a DIY effort. The Weimaraner is my friend's. They really are great subjects...didn't notice the speed/agility on them until after I saw this footage.Roster wrote:To lealar,

You took the negative and telecined DIY? Or did Spectra make a work print as well and that is what you telecined? In any event, please excuse my ignorance but I'd sure like to know what you did and how you made it look so good.

No working print. I ran the negative through a copycat unit of the Workprinter with a 3CCD cam, then ran a color correction scheme I saved in Sony Vegas. It's not perfect for every negative film I've tested, but they're enough to get me in the ballpark, then make some minor tweaks. The trickier part is getting the ariel image centered and focused correctly, then setting the exposure level on the cam. Too high or too low in either direction and the color plugins turn the image to poo poo..lol.

Hey thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. Makes me want to attempt to duplicate your success. I have a Workprinter, a 3 CCD cam, and even Sony Vegas 5.0, but I'm fairly inept on all but the camera... although I have had good results transferring my old kodachrome movies on the Workprinter.
As for Weims, yes, they are people loving dogs, which can be intimidating for those who are not familiar with their personalities and see this big, fast, gray thing bounding up to them!

Nice work - great transfer job for home method - how did you do it?
