8 or 16?

Okay all you cinematographers dial in your eyesight. Which one of these Kodakchrome 40 reversal pics was shot in 16mm :? The other three are super 8mm :D They have been clipped and the only alterations are the black outer frame lines. Nothing has been manipulated colorwise. All are low res. http://w...

I've been forgoing the orange with the negs in daylight - Nizo S800, Bolex 160 - haven't done a res test, but it does look nice and clean. Telecine only, of course. That's interesting, shooting outdoors with indoor negs without an 85 filter :? I might have to try that. So no 85b on the top lens eit...

Once I was on the phone with a Beaulieu service technician who said that he would have to charge a considerable amount of money to have one of these cameras taken apart in order to replace the ageing internal filters. I guess it's just a money making excercise. Patrick you could probably do it your...

So does mine, even with a plastic lens. Look at my avatar, t...

filter removal

REMOVE the internal filters. No questions asked, just do it, your images will appear much sharper, as the old filters can really screw up the focus Yes, I agree fully. I've serviced and repaired enough s8 cams to know this is a good idea. For starters these little filters are simply waffer-thin pie...

But I'm confused what it is because I have a RX1 and didn't have a prism on that spot. Is this a Rex3 at all? Could it be a double super 8?

http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Minolta_XL-401/601_how_to_adjust_meter Is your camera similar to this one? If I'm not mistaken , I swear I can see a light meter mechanism just right of the potentiometer the guy is showing you, it controls the light meter setting, so if your light meter is out, you c...

minolta pull down

The light meter system should be directly behind the back of the taking lens. So it's a matter of taking off that side cover it's hard to see exactly how by the picture, but a couple of screws and a few knobs is all. Run the camera with the cover off and watch. Alway, always, have a used cart in the...
