Hi Andreas
The film is at least 30 years old. Yes, in the old times, Ekta was available at 40asa too.
I 'm quite sure that the process is the old ME-4.
Not many can do it (Frank in the Netherlands can't process it), Martin Baumgarten does process them (I tried him), the results were excellent (for a 30 years old cart), the service was slow though (about 8 months!) and the price was rather expensive (about $40 including shipping).

Contact Greg at Film Rescue. His primary job is processing old film, and he'll be able to give you an idea of what to expect based on its age and storage conditions.

I managed to shoot a couple of rolls in 1979 and then it was discontinued. Great film. I doubt if any was made after 1980 to give you some idea to the age. I shot some old stock back around 1990 and had it processed at Rocky Mountain Film Lab at great expense. It took a month to turn around and I ended up with almost no image on the film. Washed out and colors shifted badly. I bet it is not worth shooting, but that is up to you.

Err...this film would actually have been the first in the collection. I plan to focus mainly on rarebreed films. Like this Ektachrome 40.

Justin Lovell, if your roll of Ektachrome 40 is fully boxed and wrapped, and in good condition then I will be very interested. Maybe if you have a really old roll of K40 as well.

By the way, Stuntman sounds like a brilliant flick. I've seen the trailer. It looks great!

Shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do for you. Maybe get you a copy of the full version of Stuntman as well.

For those who didn't see it, Troymotion (my other free running S8 short) is online here:

WOW! I never heard of E40 in S8 before. Looks to have a filter notch, so 40T/25D. Most likely is the same process as the old E160T. It's just weird that Kodak would have 2 40/25 film stocks at the same time. I'm really curious as to how it looked.

On my top shelf sits the original S8 Kodak camera released in 1965, and old packaged carts of E160T sound, and KodakchromeII.

This makes me think of what color reversal stocks Kodak has loaded into S8 since 1965...
KodachromeII
Kodachrome 25
Kodachrome 40
Ektachrome 40
Ektachrome 160
Ektachrome 160G
Ektachrome 125 (VNF)
Ektachrome 64T

Anyone know of others?
100D and Vision 3 please

Kodachrome 25???
R U sure? :)

The rarest cart I have is a Kodachrome II sound. It must have been in production for less a year back in '74..
Ekta 40? Yes, I believe I have 6 carts in their original boxes somewhere in my fridge.

Justin, if your roll of E40 meets my specified criteria then how much would you want for it?

Ultramarine, if Justin's film doesn't seem suitable then I'd be very interested in buying from you. If that Kodachrome II Sound is up for sale I'd also be interested.

I plan on making an old film website once my collection is substantian enough. That's why I need the finest examples.

Don't know what condition mine are in, would have to dig 'em up out of storage. Sounds like you only need the most perfect of cartridges. Check with Ultramarine first, then get back to me.
