Just got an email from the big K and was speaking with the rep.

Rumor has it a new improved 500asa stock will be coming out end of November..

better than v2 500t? better how?

what gauges, any idea?

Yeah, the 500T will be replaced with a better 500t. Seems there are complaints that current 500t is really ASA320. It performs much better if treated as 320 - you getter better grain and maintain good blacks. This is why many just skipped the 500t in the 35mm world. 800 for interior and 200 for exterior.

..definitely true. I try to shoot it at 250 as much as possible.

Makes sense since 500T is the industry work horse and it's about 4 years old now. So they are probably updating it with finer grain to compete with HD. Since the 7218 is an S8 stock, I guess that meas we'll have a newer better 500ASA stock?
