A question about lenses.

Post by cinepathic soul reviver »

At the moment, I'm primarily a 35mm still photographer (though I'm trying to make the jump full time to them "talkies")...

Anyway. I was wondering if there was some sort of lens conversion table somewhere online where I could look up equivalent lenses for a super 8 camera.

For example, to get the same shot on my super 8 that I would achieve with a 20mm lens on my 35mm camera.

So far the most frustrating thing for me about my super 8 camera ( a Keystone 614 that I got for free from a friend) is that I have to be at least 15 feet away to get the shots I want, and staging things in depth is nearly impossible.

This is all sort of a moot point at the moment, as I don't have a super 8 that I can change lenses on, but I'm just curious.

Thanks!

And sorry for the redundancy, I suppose I should have employed the search feature first!

I think that 20mm in 35 would equate to something like 4mm in S8.

Pro8 offer a 3mm lens if you want very wide angle, but you need a C-mount camera of course too. I have checked through the viewfinder with the 3mm in place on a 4008 and it is pretty damn wide!
