Hi Miles ,
Try unscrewing the filming switch , then there a spring bar see if that sticking , maybe a drop of sewing machine oil never WD40 .

Sorry Miles just took a look a my 4008 camera , You are talking about the power switch at the back of the handle ? that should pull in push out very easily and also lock with white button at the side .
Can try a drop of sewing machine oil there ? but having to use pliers is not ok / maybe camera took a bang or drop or heavy knock .

Thanks guys- yep what I was worried about is if I put any kind of oil in there - could it top the power from going on? Not sure what the wireing looks like inside the Handel

Undo the handle four screws , & then you can see what the cause is with the power switch :D

Ok fixed it - I hadn't noticed the 4 screws on base of handle cause they were hidden under a black leather cover-lucky that just peels off- so all it needed to fix the sticky mess was a bit of lithium grease and the the four base screws slightly loosened- I reckon it must have been dropped at some stage and it Jammed against the switch- all good now- thanks for everyone's input :ymparty:
