They have a Twitter account (@filmferrania) and their last update was April 8 saying they need to focus on their core films before considering other formats. You can see the posts they did since Feb. 2016 which include photos.

There was a post on Facebook today by Ferrania, expressing some exhaustion on getting things started. Lots of unforeseen hurdles. Sounds kind of bleak at the moment, or will still be a while unless they run out of money.

The latest Ferrania update reached my email inbox yesterday. There is also an update on their website.

It's not like they are being secretive.

Received an email from Ferrania. Looks like they have the new coater running. Thought it interesting that they are using 90's electronics to run a machine from the 50's to manufacture a technology from the 30's.

As long as it works.

I would guess Ferrania had no significant investments in their film production line since the 90s, hence the old control systems. But if they work, that's what matters. I know of other businesses using 486 PCs from the early 90s to run manufacturing systems. You know what they say....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hello everyone,

My name is Dave Bias and I'm in charge of FILM Ferrania, Inc. - the US-based company that will be handling all sales, communications, etc. for our Italian factory. If you have seen our Kickstarter, read anything on our website, or followed us online, then you are already familiar with my work. :)

I figured that it was about time I popped my virtual head into this forum to say hello and to listen to your feedback.

Just like on APUG, I want to make myself available for slightly more in-depth and technical updates, to answer any questions you might have, knock down any myths or rumors, and generally keep you guys in the loop regarding our epic project.

I'll start a new thread that doesn't have such a negative title. ;)

cheers!

Hi Dave and thanks for joining!

I think your timing is perfect. Labs across Europe report the death of E6 filmprocessing and hopefully Film Ferrania can do something with that.

Question everybody is having: When will we see the first batch of Super8 or 16mm films?

Cheers,
Andreas

Hello Dave and thank you for joining the forum.
Being a Kickstarter member I am always looking out for updates.
I am the starter of this thread and only posted it because of the lack of updates from Ferrania. I dont expect you to give myself or others on here answers to all our questions, you will not be able to live a normal family life if you tried.
There is one burning question I would like to ask though.........................When the plant is up and running would it be possible to visit the factory?
I am hoping within the next year or so to go to Italy and I would love to visit to see in real life the process.

Its a long shot I know due to health and safety and such, but it would be interesting im sure.

In fact, we are preparing an announcement to address the recent news that Andec in Germany is ceasing E6 processing. All ducks are forming into rows as we speak...

If I just said "When they're ready," would that be good enough? ;)

The team in Italy has decided not to announce the timeline for color until they are SURE of the delivery dates. After some false starts and 18 months of delays and myriad other issues involved with working in a building that was built in the 60's and sat empty for four years - they have put their foot down, despite my pushing and pushing them to give us at least a time window.

I can say that we are having very good progress through our initial testing stages. As we communicated long long ago, these tests will take 6-10 weeks, and their success depends on a nearly infinite number of variables.

I would just ask everyone to keep fingers crossed, say prayers, send well wishes on social media - or do whatever you do to share your good vibes with our team.
