Re: Festivals and copyright of story source?

Hi, all. I'm not interested in looking for a story, I want THAT story and apparently I can't legally have it because the late author's daughters renewed the copyright in 1991. It was originally published in 1963. Anyway...the festivals won't screen it if I don't have the permission, and I'll likely ...

Festivals and copyright of story source?

I recently read a very nice sci-fi story by a now deceased author that would make a great Super 8 short film (30 minutes long) with special effects kinda like the ones in Jet Benny. I was thinking of adapting the story into a screenplay and shooting it even if I don't have the permission of the auth...

Re: Using expired Single 8??

CineGuerrilha, I like your Othon Bastos avatar. ;-) Are you in Brazil? I don't think I'll sell the old stock but I might have to no longer buy any new stock now that Kent is gone. Unless the retro8.com people start answering emails I might be done with single 8 for a while, sadly. I love the format ...

Processing Fujichrome and Ektachrome 64T?

Now that Kent Bulza is out of the s8 film business, where are you all sending your Fujichrome to? I've heard of people sending it to Fuji. How do you do that? I also heard of people shipping to Tak of retro8.com but my emails to him get ignored, maybe's he's on vacation. How can I get my single 8 pr...

Re: Using expired Single 8??

Hi! I'm totally stunned over this. I have relied on Kent in the past and this is total news to me...I'm shocked. I guess I'll have to mail my film to Tak at retro8.com instead. Do any of you have any idea how much he is charging for processing with shipping back to Los Angeles? His prices page seems...

Using expired Single 8??

I'm back in my parents for a month and found some carts of single 8 film I bought from Kent in 2006. I was wondering if you think they might still be worth using as the expiration date is 2007-01 on most of them with some being 2007-8. I tried emailing Kent about this but I think he's on holiday. By...

Fujica Z700 Questions

This is probably my first post in several years. Hi everyone. I am at my parents' place and recovered my Z700 from storage. It's been stored in a Pelican case along with some film I bought in 2005. I suspect the film is expired and I don't know how well it kept considering this place has incredibly ...

Re: The secret to movie financial success?

I hate "stories." Do they destroy small businesses? :P I'm surprised there is still so much money being made by movies since downloading them is becoming more and more popular. I think a couple years ago Hong Kong declared a state of emergency for their film businesses because films would get pirat...

The WorkPrinter would not be a good candidate for that because the condenser lens is only about 5 inches in diameter. If your animation cell were only about 2x3 inches, then I guess it could work! But, realistically, you need a BIG condenser lens. If you take the field area of your animation cel an...

I have built many such optical printers in the past and, basically, the WorkPrinter is an optical printer but uses a video camera instead of a film camera. Some customers have used the older WorkPrinter-Jr to make S8 to 16mm prints by using the synch port of the WorkPrinter to actuate a selenoid re...
