Re: What have you been working on lately?

I got a grant from the Interbay Film Society here in Seattle that covered my film scan by Lightpress, so I shot a super 8 short over the winter. "The Boulevard of Semi Reconstructed Dreams" is currently in post production. I am very happy to have gotten get this opportunity! Also have another featur...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

I still think the larger issue with audio is going to be camera noise. The motor is going to have to be very very quiet to be spinning a super 8 cart, unless there's something about the new design that's better insulated than it appears.
However, I am totally rooting for its success!

Re: Can I shoot 500 T with my autoexposure-only camera?

Hi Richard - interesting! And handy, because I'm shooting mostly at night. Any guidelines for a sunny/daytime shooting with this camera? It's a Eumig 125 XL S. Super 8 wikia claims it has a manual exposure option but I sure don't see one.
thanks!!

Can I shoot 500 T with my autoexposure-only camera?

Hi folks, rewording a previous question -- I've got a camera that does not have manual exposure. How will it respond to 500 T? I've previously only used TriX with it, no problems of course.
thanks much!!

Eumig 125XL vs. Kodak T500

Hi folks -- I'm working on a nighttime project next month and hoping to use my snazzy Eumig 125XL because of its very fast lens. I've previously only shot reversal outdoors in the daytime with the camera, this'll be my first time trying the T500 on super 8 at night in dark conditions. My main questi...

Re: New Kodak Super8 camera test

Glad to see it in progress, even though yes yes, it was a poorly thought out marketing attempt. They were probably trying to seem casual and mysterious. I want to see some sound tests, though. Something like Pro8 put up for the Logmar a while back - I can't find it anymore but it was a static shot o...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

The sound of the wind as nothing actually moves. Although the car could be running :) Easy to sync. Yeah, I was hoping for something like Pro8 put up a while back - I can't find it anymore but it was a static shot of a girl talking, shot in color but desaturated to be in b/w. It was fairly lovely a...

Re: Kodak rumors - new film stocks and hardware

.I've been wondering how they were going to handle the audio syncing during transfer... I wonder if they'll do a two-pop! Generate a dot on the film and a beep when the audio starts. That'd be cool. I'm still wondering how they're going to account for the camera noise vs. audio. Maybe I'm just stuc...

Re: Wolverine 8mm and Super 8 Movie Reels to Digital MovieMa

Well this is interesting. Wolverine's youtube page now contains a link to this dropbox "sample", which you can actually simply watch (don't need to download) here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x1n4m8k0ot7p3yh/14%20seconds%20sample.mp4?dl=0 I'd say it looks as good as could possibly be expected, and wor...

Wolverine 8mm and Super 8 Movie Reels to Digital MovieMaker

I think this is brand new from Wolverine, the plastic merchants for those who want iffy quality at 780p, but, for only 300$ USD 8mm and Super 8! http://secure.mm5server.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WD&Product_Code=F2DMM100&Attributes=Yes&Quantity=1 There's also a very laconic instructiona...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

Richard PT, if there is a petition to include small labs in the Kodak family of processors, I'd be delighted to sign it and do what I can to help promote it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Stubborn little labs have been crucial in keeping film alive. Kodak should know that, if they're not too bu...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

This is the best news in a million years and I'm really glad Logmar got to work with them on this consumer version; work-well deserved for them!

My main question is whether it runs quiet? It's crystal sync capable and has a mic, but is is really quiet enough for serious sync sound shooting?

Re: sankyo xl420 run with no film?

good idea S8 --- tried that but no dice unfortunately. The machine has a "block of wood" lack of responsiveness to it.
I think this one's time has come.
I have two others that're still running strong, though! Too bad the perfectly good eyecup doesn't fit on my GAF agstomatic

sankyo xl420 run with no film?

Hi folks, I dug out my xl420 the other day and it seems to register new batteries (the light comes on) but when I pull the trigger, the motor does not respond.
The motors in my other cameras run w/o film.
Is my beautiful Sankyo dead?
