Re: Lomography introduces handcranked 35mm Lomokino Movie Ca

When is the last time some company bothered to manufacture an affordable movie camera for the masses that actually uses real film ? Obviously we've been starved of a new movie camera for too long, hence the excitement and imagination. Ok, perhaps not a full length Hollywood blockbuster will be filme...

Re: Anyone going to see Super 8, the movie?

Oh yeah, looking forward to it when it comes out here in Asia, just the name is a pulling factor, I'll take the Mrs too...don't remember the last time we went to a theatre to see a movie together, it's that long. Hope it doesn't get dubbed into the local language or have these huge subtitles.

Re: Unusually short lifespan for a recordable DVD

Depends on how the dvd was stored or whether it was exposed to direct sunlight for a prolong period that could have affected the disc. Most likely the drive not being able to read it rather than the disc itself since some makes are picky on certain brands of media. I have some data dvds from a few y...

Re: Leitz Cinegon ring diaphragms

The iris ring rotates freely so you can do smooth adjustments for exposure or fades. It's a normal feature for movie lenses, unlike a lens for a stills camera where you have click stops for each aperture setting. Some DSLR shooters that use old SLR film lenses have their lenses de clicked so they ca...

Didn't the Japanese camera companies bought the patent for this 10 years or so ago because they are scared ? Looking forward to a digital super 8 cartridge as well.

Re: Great News! You don't have to shoot film anymore!

Nah, it looks like bad video noise to me rather than the aesthetically pleasing dancing organic film grain. I'll keep all my cameras and stick to shooting real film.

Re: For those considering a modern interval timer for super

Not sure whether this will work on old cine cameras, but it'll be great if it does... an interesting project:

Belt for a walkman cassette player/recorder in the right size will work, if you can find a seller online.

Re: Simple fixed focus cameras

The Kodak Instamatic 22 was my favorite, pin sharp and rock steady images with manual exposure, too bad it had the cheese drive gears though. Halina was the other fixed focus camera that I really liked for it's sharpness, but the auto exposure is just a little too sensitive and consistently give und...

Re: best c-mount lenses

Hi Mattias, the 5.5mm EBC Fujinon off the ZC 1000 is a sharp lens, decent speed at f1.8. and wide, depth of field is so great you don't have to worry about focus most of the time. You can even add a video camera wide converter in front to make it even wider. Ultimate lens would be the 10mm for the Le...

Re: Exposing expired Kodachrome

have others here used expired KC (pre-2000) and if so, how did they expose it and how did it turn out? Had a half exposed roll of freezer stored K25 slide film from 1987 finished and processed, Exposure wise I did not compensate when I shot the rest of it in my camera. Came back with no magenta cas...

Re: Samples of DSLR telecine?

Are there any online samples of Super 8 or 16mm footage transfered with a DSLR rig? Be it one of the JK Printer mods or some home brewed setup. Thx. Discovered this interesting experimental DIY setup on the net a few months back, using a Eumig to project directly on the CMOS of the Canon 5D MKII fo...
