Re: kodak

I don't really want to say this, but I don't think there will be a new Super8 camera nor Ektachrome coming from Kodak. I think they missed their window. It is really sad and I really would have hoped they could have gotten this out a year ago when the anticipations and hype was still there. Now, wit...

Re: 16mm Transfer Grading, Pay or Play?

I'm doing professional transfers and grading almost every day and my recommendation to you is that: 1. If you have the time and interest in grading you should do it yourself. 2. If not, then get a natural looking scan (not scene by scene grade), but more like a one-light suggested by Pj, and then yo...

Re: I need some basic film editing software?

Hi, I would suggest either Adobe Premiere Elements or if you're on a Mac just go for iMovie or Final Cut X. Heck, even Moviemaker on Windows would do. Basically all editing programs do the same. They allow you to cut your clips and re-arrange them + add titles, effects and audio. However, they are a...

Re: Transferring 16mm Prints

Hi Will, Just a short comment: In Norway you are free to make copies for yourself as long as you own a copy of the film (privately). You are not allow to distribute obviously. Do you know if perhaps your films could be PD by now? Public domain? Perhaps AV Geeks could help you. Skip Elseheimer holds ...

Re: Best practice for positioning the 720x480 material in the 16:9

Hi Steve! If you use Adobe Premiere Pro: I do this all the time in Adobe Premiere. Simply create a new project and a new sequence with your 720x480 (DV NTSC?) as resolution. Drag the videofile onto the timeline. Upon export, choose H.264 and choose one of the HD presets. There might even be one for ...

Kodak teams up with Girl Skateboards

Check out this news: http://www.kodak.com/US/en/Consumer/Products/Girl-Skate-Kodak/default.htm http://girlskateboards.com/kodak/ and the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im40fN_7zF0 I dig it - however, I couldn't help noticing the very unsharp crappy scan (or could it come from youtube or perh...

Re: Film Cleaner

We use Isopropanol both in our Excel 1100 filmcleaner and for handcleaning. This solvent is easy to get most places. We use the "prima" (best) type. https://rtico.com/lipsner-smith-excel-1100-enhanced-non-immersion-professional-motion-picture-film-cleaning-machine/ See here for some info from Kodak:...

Out of curiosity, do you have any plans to add PTRs to your Retro (or future) scanners?
