Re: The secret to movie financial success?

BTW...Slumdog is really amazing tour-de-fource piece of filmmaking, and unquestionably Danny Boyle's best film IMHO. Can't believe it almost went straight to DVD after Warner Independent went belly up and the the Studio passed on distrubuting it. I was a great story indeed. Very good cinematography...

Re: The secret to movie financial success?

Story is everything indeed. I think, when you're having a good story, people will forgive you your mistakes or limitations in camerawork, lighting etc.. But story is the most difficult of all. It's the most complex one. On the one hand you need technique, on the other hand you need to discover your ...

Re: please comment on my film

Hi Steven, No filters were used in this film. I used the contrast setting in post on my computer and used a little program (Virtual Dub) for resetting the white and black levels in the film to 'pure' black en 'pure' white. This way the contrast in the film was good most of the time. I also used it's...

Re: please comment on my film

Hello again Paul, This is the kind of restraint and mise-en-scene control you see in the films of the incomperable Yasujiro OZU, as well, in a different way, in those of Buster Keaton. I wouldn't be surprised if you were a fan of these two. Another aspect of the style you have achieved here comes d...

Re: please comment on my film

What do you think about the story..does it grab your attention or not at all, is it boring or entertaining? Which parts do you think are are good/bad etc..

Thanks,

Paul

Re: please comment on my film

I used virtual dub for stabilising the frames. So that's why everything is so stable. Freddy from this forum helped me out a lot here. It is true that it is filmed sober. Perhaps I should think of using more different angles. I think of that next time, as well as of the movement. Thanks for commenti...

question for adamgarner

Hello Adam I was browsing your website of trigger-studios yesterday, and I am really impressed by it. Great design, superb animations etc.. I really enjoyed it! I also liked the wedding clips a lot. And this is what I have some questions about. I was wondering what film you used for those interior c...

Re: 16mm clip

Looked great to me.... Nice combination of images and music.. I enjoyed watching it.. What are the supposedly week spots of the bolex 16mm camera..since most people seem to agree that it is one of the minor cams in this format..it looked superior to 8mm in a lot of ways. Stability looked good as wel...
