Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Will2, This is a very fine toothed plastic gear. It's 18mm diameter, 1mm thick, with 40 teeth of 1 mm tooth depth and helical cut. One would need a very high resolution 3D printer I think. Was going to try epoxy casting but I've got my doubts about how long the gear would last. Maybe I should try a ...

Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Since it seems no one has a scrap Canon 814 or 1014 available for parts I am thinking of scraping my Canon 1014.
If you need a part let me know which part you want and if I get enough different parts wanted I won't bother to repair my camera.

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

Traditionally reversal film has been more expensive than negative film. Negative film is a simpler film. Reversal film is effectively a negative and positive film layered on top of each other. Although Tri-X is a reversal film being black and white means it only has 2 active layers compared to negat...

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

Just wondering about pricing of this elusive new Ektachrome 100D. How much would you like to pay? I've heard some people thinking that this reversal film should be cheaper than their negative. Wishful thinking in my opinion. I think it will be dearer than Vision stock. I'll predict US $35 per Super ...

Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Maybe I'll have a go at making a new gear. Wonder if anyone has had success with moulding a fine tooth gear?
This Canon camera is way to complicatedly (big word here) designed! These bloody engineers should stick to drawing rockets!

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

That's interesing information chaps. It's confirmed my suspicions that Super 8 is not all that much better than Standard 8. I think the Kodachrome 25 daylight was available in Super 8 cartridges at one time and it would have been amazing. The thing is these days film has to compete with video so the...

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

K25 was an exceptionally sharp film. I remember seeing my fathers K25 Standard 8 films and they seemed sharper than his later K40 Super 8 films. He used good cameras for both formats.
Cineandy, did you also use K40 in your 16mm camera and if so how did it compare to the K25?

Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Is there anyone out there that has a Canon 814 or 1014 that's being wrecked for spares? The silent models. I need one of the plastic gears that drives the frame and footage counter. This is from the model with the two circular dials. Unfortunately mine has a broken tooth. I was thinking maybe I coul...

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

Cineandy, I've seen great looking 100D transfers, so can't be the film. Probably you had bad processing or transferring. 100D looks like a modern film and in that regard the 64T did look a bit more like vintage film. Of course Kodachrome has that vintage look which is really nice. My main complaint ...

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

Doug, A few paragraphs taken from an interview published on Supr8.TV, and it seems 10 x 100' is also OK. Visit the website for the whole article! There's a lot of interesting articles on Jürgens Lossau's site. Ektachrome comes in Super 8 and 16mm Kodak explains details Jürgen Lossau, April 2nd, 2018...

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

Kodak has promised 16mm Ektachrome but minimum order is 10 rolls x 400'. Get your wallet ready!
As to the Super 8 version, they say they have sent test samples to labs, so it seems progress is being made.
At the moment old stock 100D and 64T can be found from online sellers, at a price.

Yeah, I heard about this years ago. I thought it's a clever idea and worth mentioning for the unaware.
