EXP24 2 Day Introduction to Super 8 workshop!
@ ESA Patrick Studios, Leeds, LS9 7EN

10-5 pm on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th October

Minimum 5, Maximum 8 places available

Full price = £55, Concessions = £45 (students, unwaged, ESA members)

Over the course of this intensive, practical introduction to Super 8 you will –

• Find out about the history of the format, and how super 8 works
• Get your hands on a super 8 camera and shoot your own film
• Learn accessible hand-processing techniques and develop your own film in a one-to-one tutorial session
• Experiment with editing processes and learn how to use a super 8 projector
• Get advice from EXP24 about all things super 8 – including DIY telecine, super 8 cameras & projectors, troubleshooting, advanced filmmaking processes and anything else you’d like to find out about!

Workshop Outline

Day 1:

10am: Introduction to Super 8
• Brief history and contextualisation of the format
• Using super 8 now – Ektachrome 64T
• Introduction to cameras and individual guidance
• Tour of the East Street Arts facilities

12 noon: Shoot shoot shoot! Head outside to make your film!

4.30pm: Return cameras to base and book your individual hand processing session for Day 2.

Day 2:

10am-3pm: Individual hand-processing sessions with an EXP24 tutor

12-3pm: Open informal session – editing, projectors, and film discussion with EXP24 filmmakers in the Project Space

4pm: Collective film screening – gather around to see all the films made during the workshop, plus work by EXP24 filmmakers.

The workshop fee includes all materials and tuition and payment for the workshop is required in advance. Please bring proof of concession on the day.
