I'm curating a screening of short films in L.A. The theme of the screening is the same as the title: "Los Angeles as a Character."

How is Los Angeles defined? Is it a city, a state of mind or an identity? Hollywood backdrop? What makes it unique? Or is the answer something altogether different?
Los Angeles as a Character is a screening that will showcase narrative, experimental and documentary short films and videos with the city of Los Angeles as a peripheral or central, theme, backdrop or character.
