Toronto "8 fest" Feb 22-23 2008

5. Announcing =the 8 fest=, the new Small-Gauge Film Festival, Toronto
February 22 – 23, 2008
Trash Palace
Bathurst & Niagara Street, Toronto

=the 8 fest= a new festival that will liven up midwinter in Toronto with a weekend of Small-Gauge films

the 8 fest will feature everything from historic works by international artists to contemporary pieces from the Toronto film scene.
We will also highlight the wider cultural use of Small-Gauge – from home movies to instructional loop films, a grassroots glimpse at over 70 years of everyday culture.

February 22 – 23 Events will include: recent work by Toronto filmmakers Tanya Read & John Porter, a rediscovered flick by Adrian Göllner and “counter-narratives” performed as live voice-overs to filmloops of cute animals and other wholesome treasures. Also featured are: the full-on sound/image experiments of Boston’s small-gauge maestro Saul Levine and a chance for you to participate at the Orphan Films show – if you’ve ever found an old home movie at the goodwill, bring it down to show on the big screen.

Stay tuned for the full schedule of events with program descriptions to be released in early February.

Anyone in Toronto checking out the 8fest? Why not? They are screening my "There's a Wooly Mammoth hair in the Gate" in the Saturday 9pm program. Whole weekend should be worth attending.

The venue, The Trash Palace, doesn't seem to have their address on their website. Go figure. Anyone planning to attend: it's at 89B Niagara.
