Canon 814XL-S Variable Shutter

I've noticed when I switch between 150 and 220 degrees for the shutter on this camera, I can hear a buzzing sound that lasts until I've started filming and shot about 15-30 frames - is this normal?

I think that's the motor that maximises and minimises the shutter. Mine only lasts the few seconds it takes to expand. I'm thinking something is wrong with your camera.

Yeah, it lasts barely 2 seconds after you turn the knob.

Well theres the main sound of the thing changing, which does only last about 2 seconds, but if I put my ear up to the camera I can hear a quite buzzing/humming for a bit. I guess the only way to test this is to shoot some film.

Nope. At least in the 814AElectronic you can "reduce" the standard angle (from 155º I think) to make fades, etc., but you cannot open it to 220º because these are not XL cameras.
