I would love to see the 35mm print of this film in theaters! It looks really good even compressed to QuickTime. Do you think it will at least come out on DVD--or even better, HD-DVD/Blue-ray?

The Super-8 Podcast is a fantastic idea. Can I resubmit Savonarola in H.264?

Gee that's impressive - hardly look slike Super 8 at all. I particularly like the opening shot with the horizon low, and the sea seething.

I cant wait to see it too!

Nathan I coded the previous in h264 but at a smaller size - if you wanna try going supersize with h264 get in touch! File size might be a problem though!

That really is a 'teaser'. It looks great. I wish it was just a tad longer. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

Very impressive. I agree with Scott in that it doesn’t look much like super 8 at all. That last shot with the bird soaring into the air with the ocean and mountains in the distance looks more like 16mm. I must say that this is a really interesting experiment - putting super 8 through a professional workflow utilizing some of the best technologies currently available and seeing what the results are like.

BEAUTIFUL, I loved it so!

Its also got me thinking about wether or not super 16 is really necessary, if a 2k scan of super 8 can look this good, imagine how good of a job itll do with 16mm.

Once Again, BEAUTIFUL work Daniel!

I noticed your 2k transfer and 10bit colour was done in NZ - which is good news for all us Australians - somewhere so close, and I don't think there's anywhere here that can do that (correct me if I'm wrong anyone).

BTW the Pro 8 classic camera is their rebadged Beaulieu 4008 isn't it? Is there any significant chages to the camera that they make?

What was it like using the 35mm lenses? I assume you chose them because of their speed and sharpness but did they feel like you were permanently zoomed in? Did it make it difficult doing any close up shots?

Imagine if most major productions were shot this way. The loss in revenue to Kodak.....hmmm......certain things about Kodak and Super 8 are starting to add up  Maybe they can slip this one in at the Denver Film Festival.
