another 7217 clip

....I posted this for someone who was asking about getting rich blacks out of 7217 and some of you might find the clip useful as a reference.

It was made on 7217 at night with a Nikon R 10 7-70mm zoom shot wide open F 1.8... I think it was at 24fps (a mistake too dark) Nice blacks though.

Transfer was made by Eric Rosen on his Shadow Telecine system here in Seattle.

Nice work Steve. I think the 500T may have worked better for you. would give you more to throw away and not see a grain increase. I like the tail lights just going out of focus forever, didn't have my speakers on but would go great with music.

..Thanks. I liked the tail lights too. I probably could have used them for something, but decided to relegate those shots to the proverbial cutting room floor. Those shots come from a couple of rolls I shot at night. One was 7218 and T -scan, is right, its a better low-light film.

Stay tuned, those shots will emerge at some point.

Impressive...Most impressive.

I can only hope I get such good low-light results out of my 7217. My cam's a Canon 514XL-S, a lot more basic than the cam you have.

BTW, the stuff you shot was Kodak's own 7217, or was it Pro8mm's repackaged 7217? So far, I'm hesitant to try Pro8's version due to it being recanned stuff as opposed to fresh stock like Kodak's.

So far, I've only shot one roll of Kodak '17 (in fact, it was the first roll of anything Super-8 I've shot in over ten or so years), but I didn't use an 85 filter, so it'll probably be mostly blue. fortunately, they could compensate for that in the transfer.

Hopefully results like these and those of everyone else who posts their footage will convince Kodak to put the rest of their Vision2 stocks in cartridges. Maybe the threat of that will force Pro8mm to shape up or ship out.

....I haven't used Pro8mm stocks and cannot speak to the quality of their work. I have approahed them about 7201 super 8 carts, but they insist that I process the film with them. Since slow films are not my obsession, I don't worry about not having them. I do have to admit, however, 7201 sounds like a very nice film stock.

One of the great things about North America, photographically speaking, is its tremendous variety of landscapes; mountains, deserts, lush subtropics, high plains, temperate rainforests. Even after so much relentless suburbanization of the countryside you can still find plenty of beautiful countryside. Too bad so much of the populance is as boring as day-old pancakes.

Seems like I always pick 500 asa because I'm afraid there won't be enough light.And we even have a few 1000w lights.It's nice to see that the 200t holds up at least pretty good in those conditions.It wouldnt have took that much more light to really bring it out it seems.I'm anxious to shoot some now!
