Vision2 500 footage?

Post by roxics »

Where can I see some quality transferred vision2 500 footage on the internet?

I'll be shooting a short film in the next couple of months and want to see how grainy it is before even shooting a test roll. To see if I should even bother shooting a test roll. Or if it wil be just too grainy for my tastes. I don't want to see stills. I want to see some video if it's available. The movie is a bit of a comedy.

Thanks

Archive.org is a place to post movies.

Uh, isn't the West like a really dry place?

The "west" as it is defined here in California is bascially anything from Mojave HOT to ICY LAKE TAHOE cold. California has almost every weather condition and every topographical feature you can imagine in one place (though i do not think we have a Volcano though there was one in Los Angeles or something based on a past movie!! hahahaha).

Nice clip...I think the transitions should have all been straight cuts but I am sure that clip was more for experimentation than a real "teaser".

this is some great footage...
was it all done on v500t? looks really sharp

did you use a stabilizer in post or did it come out stable like that in
the first place....

also the footage came out really clean..
last time I shot the old vision200 my telecine
looked a lot more dirty with lots of white sprinkles
though I had it telecine prep´ed for 10 euros/cartridge :(

great stuff

Mammoth, Lassen, and Shasta are all volcanos. Mammoth is pretty active, too. :D

While we're talking vision2 500

Post by Number6 »

While we're talking vision2 500 . . .

I have 13 rolls in my fridge from a short I was working on last year but the funding fell through, and I'm hoping to use it in the next few months.

Does anyone know how far you can push this stuff? One of the reasons it is sitting there is because I bought it and then realised my cameras only iso'ed into the 200s, so I bought some Extachrome and shot the bulk of my footage on that instead (but then, like I said, things fell apart anyway).

But I'd really hate for it to go to waste.

Do they have an exp. date? Would you be willing to sell any of them? If the price is right I might take some off your hands. Just a thought.
Shoot me a PM if you want. Thanks.

No, last I checked Filmcraft only does B&W and only on Wednesdays. But yes they do do good work.

As far as the footage posted. Thank you. It was good to see. In all honestly though it kind of looks like 24p video with film grain added. It doesn't quite have the look I was after. Maybe it's because it's a newer stock and I was thinking it would look more K40ish. I don't know.

That is seriosulsy nice footage - how did you get the widescreen - just cropped - not an anamorphic - judging by the full frames on that other thread.

If you don't like the look/colours just fiddle with it a bit
