Fair enough.

I'll leave the other vintage audio gear ("junk" as the wife calls it)...

Apparently we are the sole source of it worldwide. Every other country has air as fresh as springtime with water so pure you can drink right out of the canals. How we manage to survive here in the US amid such filth is quite beyond me but we do do our best.

Oops. I said "do do".

Sole source, no, but per-capita we produce 4x as much as other industrialized countries.

If we cut down by 10% per-capita, we'd be cutting as much as countries like China would if they cut down by 50% per-capita. It's more affordable for us to do it than other countries, as a result.

It also puts other countries in a bad light. "Hey, if we can do it, why can't you?" It's easier to blame another source, but frankly, it's easier for us to fix our own.

in this case it is a matter of how much each country/citizen contribute to say CO2 polution - "GREEN HOUSE" effect.

http://www.vexen.co.uk/USA/pollution.html

not a neutral site but the main stuff is correct enough:
(1) The USA is the world's biggest polluter
(2) The Kyoto Protocol
(3) All industrial nations except the USA accept it
(4) President Bush & Why doesn't the USA support it?
(5) Pollution & Cars
(6) Household waste: USA's good example
(7) Methyl Bromide
(8) USA needs to do more
(9)Conclusion on the USA: Not a people's government

And as far as energy use per capita, here is the USA:

http://nationalatlas.gov/natlas/Natlasstart.asp

Sorry folks, seems noone spends much time doing this level of detail in the rest of the world...wonder why?

Notice California, Arizona and Florida (plus a few NE states) use the least amount of energy per capita.

Soooo, let's just practicing what we preach, shall we?

Yeah, what about it? Stay out of it if you're not interested.
This time, I will stay out of it.

I swear.

Really.

I'm just going to go smoke a cigar (pollute the air) and have a drink (pollute my liver) while this blows over.

On the TOTAL oil consumption chart I posted, I do believe the USA has been surpassed by the far east. Let's lay blame where it belongs...(and Canadians are as bad as Americans! hahahahah)

Okay, so why is the US and Canada grouped together? Why not just group Canada with "the rest of the world" as well as "other industrialized nations"?

I've seen the graph that has Canada grouped separately...will try to locate it on the web....basically it takes virtually nothing away from the USA column....per capita the USA belches far more CO2 and other chemicals into the atmosphere than any other nation/region.

This chart is really confusing. I don't think because Asia is on top that it means they are the highest consumer. I think the chart is supposed to measure each group's use relative to each other. I believe you are actually supposed to measure the consumption of each group as indicated by the color range, not necessarily the top line of the graph. Thus, "North America" (which is basically the US as Canada's consumption is comparatively miniscule) STILL exceeds Asia, which includes China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. etc.. If I'm wrong than this chart is simply bullshit.

Nevertheless, I know exactly who to blame.
