There is another one on the US site by the same name of the camera type.

There is a regular 8 and DS8 of that camera and they look the same. I have the DS8 which has "DS8-M" on the front below the lens. This auction he only states 2x8 which one would assume is the regular 8 version. Can't see the name below the lens cause he has a converter on it.

It's DS8 version, I have the same camera. It's a nice little camera, the wide angle lens works just great and with Fomapan you can get nice results without any electricity.

Here is one example of Quarz picture quality (the first part is shot with Canon DS8, the second one is shot with Quarz DS8-M):

No, only 7,5 meter or 10 meter ones(this camera isn't much bigger than Sony PC-series camcoders). You can buy Fomapan in 10 m (2 x 10 m) spools from Andec, Wittner or Hollywood-shop. Only Canon DS8, Pathe DS8, Elmo C-300 or Bolex DS8 can take 100' spools.

Here is a comparison between the camera sizes:

Quarz DS8-M and Canon DS8

Quarz DS8-M, Sony PC-100, Canon DS8 and Kinor 16-2M

Note: Quarz DS8-M model hasn't reflex viewfinger, but DS8-3 with zoom lens has it.

Is the front lens modular? If so, which mount does it use?

these look pretty nice as they're the complete kits, but I'm sure you could find something cheaper.. I just received a DS8-3 (the one with reflex viewfinder and zoom lens) a couple days ago.. I won the auction for 1 euro..

It's a very heavy camera, but not that big.. I guess being built like a tank has it's pros and cons :D

The camera has solid fix focus lens and you put these wide angle and tele lenses in front of it with Quarz's own bayonet-tylish mount. Note: you can use also very easy anamorphic lenses with this camera model.

Hello, today is my first day here and it's great to see the friendliness of the people in this Forum. I just realized jukkasil actually posted links to his footage in this very page, a couple of days after his footage was posted on my site. Sad thing I didn't have the chance to read that before, now I get to know a little bit more the people around here.

================
Jukkasil, thanks for letting me know you are the author of that footage.
A friend sent me those files and we were unable to find information about where it came from.

I just took those files down. The footage you shot is very educative and beautiful. Had I known who shot it, I would've asked permission first.
I suggest you include your website address or email in the actual video, for future references.
Responsibly mixing my medications,
Angel Dragon
