Cheapest K40 & other stocks

Post by dantheman »

We've probably had this one before, but doing a search I couldn't find much, and so:

Where is the cheapest place to buy K40 and other film stocks? I can bulk buy and buy over the net.

Thanks

Forgot to say: I'm UK based. Although if the shipping costs weren't prohibitive I could get it from abroad.

Was also interested in the other stocks: tri x, plus x, exktachrome, vision 200 and 500. Any ideas?

Got the best deal ever this afternoon...

Phoned local Jessops shop yesterday and asked if they had any K40 in stock... the reply was "only got out of date stock... dated 04/2004... we're going to send it back to head office"

Well i asked "would you sell it to me anyway?" as i needed some stock quickly.

"Yes" they replied... "wait and i'll ask the manager and give you a price..."

and the price was... £3. per cart... "What!" i said... "£3." she said.

Unfortunately they only had 8 carts left... So 8 carts, process paid K40 for £24.

Thanks Jessops.

Good for you (I'll think I'll try too!)

But (I fear), bad for super 8mm.

Well, partly it is cheap because there is no sales tax. And it only works if you stay below taxation treshold. Also the dollar value is an advantage.

Strange is that the BW films come from France. So in and out the US you get cheaper film then directly from a EU seller.

Remarkable is that there is no better price if you buy 10. Even outside eBay while he then can save another 5%.
Kind regards,

André

Indeed the search function is not strong. It could do with some better instruction and interfacing. Especially in BOOLEAN combinations.

These returning thread-subjects are frequent.

K-40 (USA)

Post by labrat99 »

Hi,

I've got essentially the same question except I'm in the US. Where to get Kodachrome and processing? I bought five cartridges plus mailers from B&H Photo and by the time I paid shipping it worked out to nearly $20.00 a cartridge.

Are there better deals out there?

I don't know how close to $20.00 you were - I've seen them for about $18.27 a cart (includes 3 day UPS shipping).

Hi, I'm quite sure the cheapest way to get K40 in the US is directly from Kodak, at least I'm sure to have read that in many threads..

As for me, I get them through a Kodak representative, by special order (which takes 2 days but there's no minimum quantity) and since I'm a student, I get a 40% discount.. so I usually buy process paid K40 for 12.5 euros a cart.. which is not that bad, I guess!
