A trendy mashup of iPhone and Super 8 cameras. They are calling this the world's first "cinematic smartcase" with interchangable lens and optical viewfinder. Urgh, i.e.
The Lumenati CS1 pairs with your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s to create a classic film camera.

When faux Super 8 camera "experience" and bragging rights are more relevant than the actual reality. Lets NOT get hipster hands too messy with established Super 8 working methods and technique.

It terrifies me that the bearded dudes have already hit 2/3 of their funding goal for this goofy art school project.
On the other hand, maybe there's more money to be made by releasing a Super 16 knock-off of this in a larger and much more expensive version with a better lens mount. Bigger means better, right? The faux film magazine could house a massive battery for charging the installed iPhone 6, with four or five external ports for keeping your posse's tablets and phones charged.

Dear God... Keepin it analog without the hassle i see. I guess playing vinyl records is all the analog cred they need? I should make a vintage receiver that i can pop my iPod into like an 8-track.

It's not entirely silly. If wanting to shoot video on your phone, then using a more ergonomic interface for such makes sense. I know I have difficulty getting a good shot using a phone as is.
The retro-look is partly commodity logic, and partly a function of the fact that cameras on which it is based are more ergonomic in terms of shooting video (or film).

An entire feature film was recently shot on a phone. I imagine they would have made some additional ergonomic interfaces to the phone to ease usage.
In terms of commodity logic I'd prefer something that looked more like a Ray Gun than a Super8 camera. Perhaps Super8 cameras were originally based on ray guns.![Happy :)](./images/smilies/1.gif)

Love the Ray-Gun! And what is the exact function of this Power House Model 70108 drill? Melt perfect circles in wood then squirt glue?
Zap!

With all these selfie-apparti one would indeed expect that a grip to fix to a smartphone to aid with photography or filming would be the next five-dollar thing from China. Should improve stability a lot.carllooper wrote:It's not entirely silly. If wanting to shoot video on your phone, then using a more ergonomic interface for such makes sense.
