Does anyone have any idea if Kodak has plans to start making Kodak Super 8 100D colour reversal film

I'm not aware of Kodak having any plans of producing their Ektachrome 100D again. They did produce it from about 2009 (or 2010?) up to 2012/13. You will find the thread about 100D's demise here:

I've got exactly one cartridge left of this stock. Need to think carefully what to shoot with it.

I don't think Kodak will bring back the 100D. I really wish they would. Are you looking for any kind of color reversal film, or just for the 100 D specifically? Fomapan is currently making a color reversal film stock. It has more grain than the 100D, but its better than nothing. You might want to give it a try if you already haven't.

I have two rolls of 16mn 100d and I'm not sure what to shoot either. Great stock. Colors were more accurate than Kodakchrome but Kodachrome just had that awesome pastel look.

Even if they would like to do so: I doubt that they still can coat films (at least acetate based ones):beaunizo wrote:super8love75 wrote:My idea is that they are not planning on bringing it back.

Nice installation. Strictly spoken they could still coat when they still have a coater... They can purchase acetate from outside. Others do the same.

Re: Kodak 100D
True, but E100D had already been around for at least five years in 35mm and 16mm prior to the S8 version being released. I think the only reason we got it was that they had already stumbled twice with both 7240 and E64T by giving us two films that would end up improperly exposed in the majority of cameras out there.

Re: Kodak 100D
100D was introduced in the late 90's as 5285 35mm. Its main purpose was to give music videos a punchy/contrasty look, it was mostly used for cross processing. That was when big record companies dominated music and the film industry made all their videos. I still remember all those blown out in your face videos on MTV. Then in 2004 Kodak released it in 16mm but only on 400ft spools. I remember ordering a can right away, cut it down onto 100ft spools for my R16 and it was the best looking anything i had yet to shoot. Then in May 2005, Kodak was finally announcing the death of Kodachrome and it's mystery replacement. I was really excited thinking it would be 100D, and that's what everyone was assuming because what else could a new S8 color reversal film be at the time? But instead they blind sided us with the 64T. It was slower, grainier, looked too blue without an external 85B filter. They eventually revised it to perform better in S8 but at the end of the day... Kodak pretty much wasted 5 years of Super 8's life on 64T when we could have been shooting 100D. When they finally ran 64T off the shelf, we got the 100D for only 2 years.
