This is great news ! However I still like Kodak 64T, the grain has improved a lot over the last year or so. I plan to continue using 64T. I think the colors are much more modern looking than Kodachrome, just my opinion.

What I miss about Kodachrome is the archival properties. Not sure how long Ektachrome 64T will last, not sure about negative stocks either. I have Ektachrome slides from the 50's that are in really bad shape while Kodachrome ones from the same time and stored in the same manner (not necessarily well) look like they were taken yesterday.

I'm still undecided about E64T. I was not at all impressed with the results from my first shoot, and I really didn't think it deserved to be the rightful heir to the K40 throne. Having shot a second cart of it, I will wait until after I have my footage back from Frame Discreet.

As far as Wittner's take on K40 is concerned, all I have to say is...

Where''s the English order page? I am so getting some of this!

All you need to know is "Entwicklung" means "processing". The rest is quite logical 8)

Hello,

Since the end of Kodachrome , I ' ve shot some ten carts of each following reversible stocks:

- Kodak Ekta 64T
- Wittner 100D (Kodak Ekta 100D)
- Wittner V50D (Fuji 50D)
- Wittner F64T (Fuji 64T).

The two kodak are grainier than the two Fuji.
I like a lot the colors of the 100 D , they are , to my eyes , the most "natural".
The 64T is not so bad in artificial light, but its grain disturbs me a lot.

The Fuji 50D , is a quite without grain (like K40 , or better).
I 've shot more than 10 carts in Dominican Republic in April ,and I got very
sharp and color saturated pictures : the best for daylight .

The Fuji F64T , is far sharper and more less grainy ,than the Ekta64T .
I 've shot a dance show at nigt and the result is nice even as the shooting
was at f 1.4 -f2.0 no more...
This stock is very sharp with 85A filter , but too blue !!(I did'nt try with a 85B)

So my choice is : daylight -> V50D
tungsten-> F64T

Hey - I didn't realize Wittner was selling the Fuji 64T. In 2006 I shot a test roll from Spectra (so did T-Scan)...loved the fine grain of that stock. Do you have any of your results online? I shot my 64T on an overcast day so the colors weren't at their peak....always wish I had waited another week or so...

Where did this Kodachrome 40 come from? Was it frozen by Wittner years ago or did they manage to obtain remaining stock Kodak may have had frozen? I'd quite like to find this out.

Wittner has been selling all this time Kodachrome 40 Super8 film in rolls ("Metterware") to load your reloadable cartridges. Maybe they are loading cartridges with it...

Wittner also sells Kodachrome 40 in DS8. Probably, it has not been perforated by Wittner and stored in original Kodak box (look the image).

Great news! Lets enjoy it while it lasts! One thing recently struck me though- if we buy film like Velvia 50 where previously we would buy 64T through having no alternative colour reversal stock, will this diminish Kodak's share of the market to the extent that they will pull the plug on super 8 citing insufficient demand? What are the sales for niche stocks like compared to Kodak's sales as a whole?

In the UK at least, pretty small i would imagine. I'd love to try Velvia or E100D in super 8 form but the fact they cost 2-3 times what I'm paying for 64T means I can't justify it.

It 's sure that Wittner 50D is far expensivier in cart than Kodak 64T.
In order to pay a little bit less , I ' ve bought some 15 meters roll of
Wittner 50D and some empty carts.
After some difficulties to load and download the film in absolute darkness,
I succeed in using the carts , at least , 4 times .

So , for 15 m ,I pay now the price of the roll + the quarter of the empty
cart price .
