Hey Rick I would love to see the film....how about contacting the Glasgow Film Theatre and asking if they would screen the film for Scottish buffs ?

Would you consider contacting them and making the suggestion? It might mean more coming from a local.

Do you have a projection copy for this or do they show it from DVD?

DVD would be a bit of a shame with such low res on large screen(s).

Rick - what ended up happening with that spotty German youth who tried to rip you off distributing Sleep Always?

I would be happy to contact them Rick. The GFT is a commercial theatre but it receives public funding also. What would you expect from a screening of your film ?
They do hire their facilities out...maybe that would be a possibility if they could'nt screen the film in their normal 'programme'.

I could check out all possibilities if you want me to...a publisised private screening might be the way to go.

I can do the same with our local arthouse theatres as well.

Good idea Rick. I've wanted to get you out there.

There's a number of cinemas in the UK which might be interested...

We have no projection copy, it's a video finish. But we do have DBeta and Beta SP, which I can offer them, but we only have NTSC, no PAL in these better formats.

Please do. If you helped set up a screening I'd send you a free copy and ensure good karma for years to come.

We are very flexible. If they charge admission we ask for a cut of the box office, provided they cover their costs. Star and Shadow are offering us 80GBP, which is generous I think (hope they don't lose money). We have also allowed it to be screened for free if the organizers are not charging or certainly not making any money from it. All offers considered.

This route frightens me as it can be very time-consuming and money-losing. If any one wanted to function as a distributor and take on such a risk, I would work with them, but I cannot take that risk myself, especially for a movie which is now, for us, over 5 years old.

Thanks for your itnerest.

Thanks for these suggestions. A few years ago I tried to push it at the many different "film societies". We had a fair response but only 1 screening resulted.

Luckily a few people continue to contact us, as was the case here (another possibility coming soon) but at this point it is all a matter of time, which I don't have much of, as I could spend the rest of my life trying to recoup from Sleep Always, when I should move on and make another one.

Dilemmas.

Any fan of the movie who could arrange a screening would receive major karma for life and anything else I can provide.

He finally contacted me, said "sorry I was in Japan" and then claimed to send me my materials, which I never received. I insisted he use registered mail but he claims he used regular post, so there is no trail or proof. I don't believe him and occassionally trawl the web to see if I find evidence of him distributing illegally.

So if anyone ever sees a German version of the movie out there, please buy it, keep the documents and let me know. (I will reimburse your costs).
