Rest in Peace, John. When I get there, I've got plenty of questions about your days at KODAK.

For anyone who may not have seen this yet, video of John's Academy Award acceptance speech is available here. In 2001, John was given a scientific and technical award by the Academy for his work on the AIM density system used by film labs.

I never knew John aside from reading his many informative posts here and elsewhere, but judging from the video and the tone he expressed in his posts, he always came across as a very friendly, unassuming, and not to mention very knowledgeable individual. His presence and expertise will definitely be missed.

Your interest in others and your efforts to always help as much as you could, and impart your great wealth of knowledge, I admired so much. I remember I once sent you an email with a question - your reply was so extensive, and helpful, and you took time out to give me the advise - you will be sadly missed the world over.

I hope that I can show half as much grace, bravery, dignity and honor in the process of death as john did in his last months on this earth! It just goes to show you that he was a model human being in death as well as in life!
