URGENT: Viewers needed: super 8 short in contest

Post by Rick Palidwor »

Hi
I have uploaded 3 of my shorts to http://www.cbc.ca/exposure.
Puta was shot on super-duper 8
Brickenstocks was Hi-8 Video
Good Night is 16mm
(They should be near the front of "latest entries" but if you cannot find them easily search one of the titles and once you are there click Friendly Fire and they will all be listed in a row).

This is a conest with an excellent first prize and deadline (to upload) is wednesday midnight (EST) and deadline to rate the videos might be the same or shortly afterward.

If you like what you see please give it a rating.

I will be putting more up tonight so please check again.

(Andreas please don't move this to "announcements" as I need eyeballs in the next 36 hours.)

Thanks
Rick

"Good night!" Did that come from the old John Belushi skit, "The Thing that Wouldn't Leave" on SNL?

I never saw that skit, but I think it's a universal situation, which is why (I think) it works. That was my first film by the way.

Watch the others. Puta is a little weird and the music a little much (though do love the gag). The Brickenstocks was a radio comedy sketch we'd done, and just shot some video to cut with audio. Lots of fun.

I've added "The Door" (super 8), Patton Pending (16mm) and Kettle On (super 8). More to come, but there server is overloading as everyone tries to get in under the wire.

five stars for all three from me... all very funny - especially the heavy metal video :D I like that kind of sight gag stuff and the superduperness of it.

Pardon my self-servingness, but I posted some more shorts:
40 Winks of Fury is super 8 (but it's an early piece and I sure didn't know much about lighting back then - ouch)
Help Wanted is 16mm (this is one of my favourites)
Taste Test is super eight
Feet First is super eight
Handsurdity is super eight
Guy's Morning Coffee is 16mm
Hi Lights is super eight shutterless

Thanks for watching

...It's a really imaginative and funny collection of short films, Rick. Nice work!

i watched puta and good night, both very good. the black level is extremely off though. stylistic choice or technical error? ;-) i like it as the former but the letterbox should still be black then.

Thanks. I hope you rated them :)
I have more comedy but there was no time to get them up. I have lots more along the lines of Feet First and Handsurdity but I didn't bother as I don't think they are going to win anything (not that Feet First or Handsurdity would but I wanted the producers to see some variety on my end).

Did I mention that first prize is a $25,000 development deal? So ratings are gold for me.

The quick link to all my entries is:

Thanks again

I am not sure how, when or why the blacks look as they do.
Thanks for watching.
