Fuji announces the end of its Single8-production :(

The Single8-Cinevia costs 27,50 EUR incl. processing at GK-Film. (Price might be higher for customers outside of Germany.)
Price at Retro is 3200 yen incl. processing (22,387908 EUR).

Retro's price is definately without shipping to Europe. I don't know whether GK's price includes shipping or not.

Yup. For those who lives outside Europe or U.S. Retro´s price of Velvia 50D in Super 8 carts is more convenient than GK or Spectra Film.

That's versed persons view.
Somehow, the rumor are there early in this year.

I heard that Fuji will not issue a substitute.
and, Fuji already stopped making Velvia 50D.

Very bad news. When I visited the Fuji lab last year, they have been very optimistic to go on with their work at least for more than five years..

Retro8 is able to process Fujickrome R25N/RT200N even when the Fuji owned lab has been closed. They use a process similar to E6 and have a special chemical to get rid of the black coated side of the Fujichrome. So this is the only good news about the bad news.

Billions? Maybe... Easy to say...
We need more accurate financial info, here.
I have no idea about the profits Fuji makes in other ventures.
An accountant with acces to Fuji's financial situation could know this.

However, these Fuji (or Kodak)guys are no idiots.
If they can make profit out of it, they do it.

I have no idea about the real cost to keep film production running.
Maybe Mr. Pytlak knows more about this.

The message has been found on Fuji's own webpage, hence it's not only a rumour! Those two films have been Fuji's last two 8mm-products, so yes: Fuji intends to withdraw from the 8mm business.

The Velvia 50D and other Velvias have got nothing to do with this since it's sold either as a slide-film or unperforated in 16mm-width to GK/Retro/Spectra/Wittner/whomever.

Guess it's part of the re-organisation, cost cutting and restructuring due to falling still film sales as reported by Bloomberg earlier in the year:

and it's so natural stream that unprofitable things are getting disappeared in this world.

There are just few single 8 users.. so it maybe come into put quite big financial pressure upon FUJI...

Unprofitable old cafe and shops are getting disappeared ..Instead Starbugs and seveneleven are everywhere..

There must be something unprofitable but valuable.
