Can't live without K40?

Post by npcoombs »

For all the triumphant talk about the demise of K40 bringing about a new era of higher quality stocks and a broader range check out the bid price on 2 carts of K40 with 4 days to go:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-Kodachrome-40- ... QcategoryZ

This brings me to my point. After posting looking for people to join the s8 collaborative project I have received many emails for s8 shooters out there (not filmshooting.com members) who do not know anything about the new stock, notching, where to get it developed, process paid deals...nothing.

This is a real problem - there is a definite lack of obvious info for people out there. K40 made everything too easy.

is it still possible to participate in this? I might want to do something with amsterdam and it's small ferries that connect the rural north with the urban centre. I say 'might' because i think it's a lovely project but i'm not sure i will have the time and money. Maybe you have found somebody for Amsterdam already.

...The price of Super 8 film just went down here in the States. Check with Kodak often. The prices fluctuate all the time.

For those that don't like the grain of 64T (because it kicks K-40's ass in every other department) there are at least 3 places offering E-6 Ekta 100D and Velvia 50D, both fine grain.
100D and Vision 3 please

Wrong thread. But I´d love if you´re doing something about these ferries!

What's the new price? The prices are hard to find on the Kodak website.

For prices from Kodak, call your local Kodak sales office:

http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/about ... .4.5&lc=en

(prices can vary with currency exchange rates).

US prices are often posted here:

http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/newsl ... 4.17&lc=en

For example:

Hi John. Perhaps you have heard about the global super-8 cities project. I happen to have noticed on the Kodak website that your company has helped filmmakers finish their super-8 documentaries before. As a project like this is closest thing to free promotion for the medium as you will ever see (as a semi-professional format, i.e. excluding Straight-8 etc.), do you think there is any chance of sponsorship or assistance with telecine etc?

If so, who would be the best person to contact?

Not listed as I suspected. NO time to call Kodak. Does anyone know what the current price is?

The FASTEST way to get a price quote is to call your Kodak sales and engineering representative. For you, that's Mike Brown in Royal Palm Beach, FL:
