Well I've done it multiple times, but the only times I did it were on shorts created soley with 35mm stills (stop motion type things).Evan Kubota wrote:"Also, regarding quality, if the movie is short enough, I usually don't do any compression at all."
I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Unless you're just burning the DV file to a data disc (which won't be playable on any DVD player), you have to compress it as MPEG-2.
I don't use iDVD, but you should be able to drag both files at the same time into the timeline or canvas.

so what exactly is it you've done?cinepathic soul reviver wrote:Well I've done it multiple times
i fail to see why the length or the shooting format or method would matter. for a dvd to work you *have* to compress the data as mpeg-2. you can burn any file on a dvd but it won't necessarily be a "dvd".but the only times I did it were on shorts created soley with 35mm stills (stop motion type things).

It will be a DVD, simply not one conforming to *Video-DVD* standards. Actually, it'll be a *Data-DVD*. You'll be able to play it back on pretty much any comp, just not on standalone players.

Because you implied in the one sentence prior to that one that a DVD wouldn't work without MPEG-2. Followed by you saying that "burning any file" on DVD doesn't "necessarily" make it a "DVD", you appear to say that anything without MPEG-2 is neither a DVD nor would work anywhere, on any playback device, which is what I intended to correct.

wow. why don't you just try and read an entire thread for once? you always jump in out of context and make the supidest remarks. i'm sure i'm not the only one who's been sick and tired of you for years already. and i'm fully aware that some are sick and tired of mee too but at least i'm almost always constructive and always contributing, while you're just a nuisance, always.

All I know is I don't seem to be the only one, there are other people you talk to just like that whenever you're out of reasonable arguments, no matter what topic or what person.
Other than that, I seem to be getting along well with Angus, Booster, S8Man, VideoFred, S8Fan, Etimh, Timdrage, Mogzy, whom I consider to be in the same 'amateur to hobbyist' club (sorry for forgetting anyone right now).
More professional members I feel to be on positive terms with and keep having informative conversations with here are Roger, Reflex, and Jürgen, for example (not mentioning John, though as polite as he may be he never seems 'relaxed', if that's the the right term).
