how should I get my Ektachrome developed?
I was just wondering what would be the best and least expensive way to get my Ektachrome 64T reversal film devloped and put on to a CD for Final Cut Pro editing.
I live in San Francisco, in case there is is any place here that will develop Super 8.

...most cost effective (not cheapest)
Shoot in batches of 8 (400ft)
Send to Forde Labs Seattle for processing and prep for telecine
http://www.fordelabs.com
I'm biased since this is the lab I use
though many here will tell you they are also the most reliable Super 8 lab in the country.
Then ask Forde to send your film to CinePost in Atlanta for xfer.

...This is what I do...hope this helps.

You haven't told us about your options for home telecine. I mean, if you have a projector and a DV camera, I hear Glasscreen is an interesting choice.

If you have neither, then scratch that.
Steve, I looked at Cine Post and saw their pricing as this:

Processing at Ralphs market or Cala Foods. Sent to Dwayne's via Fuji. Only $3.99!cinepathic soul reviver wrote:I was just wondering what would be the best and least expensive way to get my Ektachrome 64T reversal film devloped and put on to a CD for Final Cut Pro editing.

Yes, but there's a dumpster at the front door of Walmart where you have to deposit your soul before going in.Arislan wrote:Walmart or Ralph's will do Ektachrome 64T??
Use Ralphs/Cala--its easier, cheaper, and they both send it to the same place: Dwayne's. No reason to go to Walmart.

Vote with your wallet.

I live in Washington DC, I don't think I can find a Ralph's. Walmart is the closest...although even they are on exit 16 of 270N, 14 miles away...
So you are saying that Walmart will send them Ektachrome 64T. Wow! I think I tried once with 7240 and it didn't go through, while all my K40 always did...

"Walmart processing: $4.88; Ralphs processing: $3.99. Any more excuses?"
Yep - no Ralph's near me. If I could get my film processed for $3.99, of course I would drop it off there.
FWIW, has anyone actually received processed E64 back from Wal-Mart? I've read about getting it back from Cala, but not specifically Wal-Mart. Inquiring minds want to know.

Okay, for your own good you're going to have to figure this one out for yourself. Start by walking into Cala foods...cinepathic soul reviver wrote:You can get it developed at Cala? That boggles my mind slightly.
How would I even do that?
No, seriously, put the cart in the envelope, write "Super 8 movie film" on the outside, and drop it in the slot. Its like...getting film developed!

I live in Silver Spring, Maryland, and have not had any luck getting the College Park Walmart to believe they can process K40 or E64T. But every time I call I get a different person at the desk, so they probably just don't know.Arislan wrote:I live in Washington DC, I don't think I can find a Ralph's.
