Kodak shares spike 200%. Is it the announcement of the new Ektachrome? No it is Kodakcoin the new cryptocurrency that allows photographers to track illicit use of their work on the internet. My only regret is that I didn't buy Kodak when it was under $3.00 a share. Oh, why didn't I have faith in big yellow.

Learning that Kodak came up with their own cryptocurrency made me worried about the fate of cryptocurrencies. Kidding aside, I'm glad for them. I hope something good comes out of this for the company.

The scanner looks like a rebrand of something off allibaba or some chinese manufacturer. Theres an interesting article in the ny times on kodaks bitcoin, they actually are just rebranding someone else's technology. come on kodak, do something original, like your own an super 8/8mm scanner.

Since the only original thing they've done recently seems to be the Super 8 camera and even that is based on another company's work, I don't think we'll be seeing "original" things from Kodak. But that's ok as long as they bring back things they've already done. Ektachrome is great, just give me 16mm and I'll be happy.

Their whole strategy has been to license the Kodak name out and make as much money as possible from existing intellectual property...they just don't have the resources they used to in creating new things.

pretty spectacular 4-part deconstruction of the baffling and extremely scammy-sounding Kodak cryptocurrency thing https://davidgerard.co.uk/blockchain/20 ... ock-price/ :-?

Kodak are still working on reviving Ektachrome. Although I think they announced it will launch initially in 135 and super 8, I'd imagine 16mm would follow if there's any success in the other formats.

Ferrania regularly update via their website, newsletter and posts to Photrio (nee APUG)...and get a lot of abuse for their troubles. Basically at present most work has halted as the local government is doing works on the Ferrania campus.

Chances are both companies will get there with their E6 films....patience....
The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter :)
