Beaulieu 2008 question about batteries

Hello,
I have a s2008 camera. I am trying to re-cell the battery holder and am wondering how to get the holder open. The camera is the first series with the single contact on the bottom. I thought it came apart like the 4008 but after removing the leather from the top, there are no holes to insert a spanner. I would love to hear suggestions on how to open the holder to get to the cells.
