Re: Shipping film: is x-ray problem or not?

Thank you everyone! I have been reading those zillion earlier discussions on this issue on these forums, but none of them really seemed to cover this issue conclusively enough. Not so anymore :) Thanks! Ja terveiset kasimilliselle täältä Helsingistä! (Just some greetings here in Finnish!...

Shipping film: is x-ray problem or not?

Hello everyone! This question has been really giving me some headache during this year. As I live in Finland, where there is no lab capable of processing Super-8 film, reading about the possible dangers of x-ray is something that has bothered me. Shipping film abroad seems to be the only option, and...

Re: where is widened super8 gates going?

In Europe (Finland, to be specific) it should be soon possible to do max8 transfers at Reel One http://www.reelone.fi/ . They have acquired a Millenium2 -- the same machine Pro8mm has -- and should have the super-8 transfers available as soon as they get things tested out. I myself am planning havin...

Re: Okay, now I see the source of the HD problem....

I remember that even as a child I was able to notice the difference between the shows shot on video and film. I didn't really know why there was such difference, but I did prefer those which were shot on film. It's rather amusing though that it wasn't until I was about 16 years old that I realized t...

Re: best c-mount lenses

Has anyone seen this http://vimeo.com/16571589 ? Looks rather nice, it seems it was shot with a Fujinon 16mm 1.4, 1.5 MP CCTV lens with a bolex Anamorphot. The lens costs about $120. I have also thought about obtaining one, or possibly two with different focal lengths. There are also 5 MP versions o...

Re: Ultra16 transfers in Europe?

You Kent know me, but to make it clear to others also -- I did ask about this on Cinematography forums some time before coming over to Filmshooting to ask the same question here too. No advertising going on there:

Re: Ultra16 transfers in Europe?

Kent, please don't accuse the Italian friend here for replying me. I would have used my earlier account ("kettuz") but I guess it has been deleted due to long time between now and my last time signing in.

Ultra16 transfers in Europe?

Hello! Does anyone know if there are nowadays any places capable of Ultra16 transfers in Europe? This format seems to have become quite much more viable in the US due to Cinelicious, Bonolabs and Cinelab. Are there no transfers people experimenting with this here? I own two newer non-reflex Bolex H1...
