Re: Super 8 Silencer?

I am also making a sound barney for my 814XL-S. I've made a template pattern and my sister who owns her own baby clothing line is going to handle the sewing and stitching. It will be complete with flaps to access the side controls. It won't eliminate all the noise, but the plan is to cut out about 6...

EWA S8B rewinder

Tried using one of these for the first time today.
All I ended up doing was ripping the sprocket perfs.
Have modern super 8 carts been redesigned to prevent this?

Good to know. Do you apply this when cross processing E64T also?(ie. 40asa)

Re: The state of Negative Film Processing in North America.

I've only had a few rolls processed at NCL, two of them being cross processed.
I have similar effects on my neg film(the vision 500T being the worst), which I thought was a result of oldish film or my choice in inferior telecine.

Re: Kodak's closing their Colorado Super 8 plant: buy film now!

I shot a couple of carts of Spectra 100D while on vacation last year. Also brought along some K40 & E64T. Only the 100D scratched very easily. It was so bad that the emulsion(or the backing) started piling up in the gate. I have also considered it might have happened during telecine. I guess the...

Re: Kodak's closing their Colorado Super 8 plant: buy film now!

I managed to get two newbies hooked this week.
Keep the word out. It's still growing.
I have a super 8 album here on my vimeo account.

Let's spread the word.

Re: lab for black and white

There are 3 labs I know of here in Toronto. http://www.exclusivefilm.net/ B&W reversal. I go here regularly. They'll do any reversal but E160 and K40. http://www.blackandwhitefilmfactory.com/ Never gone here. http://www.niagaracustomlab.com/ This place will process your B&W film as neg. vidw...

Re: super 8 or video

I guess it also boils down to your budget. Documentary shoot to edit ratios can be about 20:1 which is a lot of film, and a longer final duration will only multiply that. If it's budget that is a concern, why not shoot all the interviews on 24p video(maybe with a high shutter speed) and all the B-ro...

Re: Cine camera, super 8 help

I rarely have issues with its focus myself. I think it'll only pose a problem when your zoomed in while shooting in dark conditions.

Re: Cine camera, super 8 help

Yes I see. Thanks for posting this info. I'm confused about one part of your instructions "Ensure that only 1 asa film speed detection pin is engaged (may have to force it over a bit)." Sounds like I need to push the pin farthest to the left over a bit to fall in the cartridge notch? If t...

Re: Cine camera, super 8 help

Whoa, hold on now! Did you say Mod? I love the 310XL but wasn't aware of a mod to make 64T work in it. Please share a link or whatever info you have on the mod. Thanks a lot! Check this link I posted earlier. http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Canon_310_XL Scroll down. I've posted instructions on it a...

Re: Cine camera, super 8 help

I'd recommend a Canon 310XL as a starter camera. Easy to use.
Small and lightweight. Only needs two AA batteries.
Reads pretty much all stocks including E64T with a very basic mod.
Readily available at an inexpensive price.
