well i don't know much about the technological argument but all i can say is that i've spent the last five or so years trying to replace my 300+ VHS films with DVD and an still no where near the end and i'll be buggered if i'm going to go through all that expense again no matter how good the quality...

It will speak well for the DS-8mm being accurately perfed. The more stocks we have the better. E100D in R-8mm is awesome and cheaper so it will be seen how popular the new Fuji Velvia will be with R-8'ers. David M. Leugers i hope so because if they can't perforate 16mm & r8 accurately then it d...

who perfs it? If it's not Kodak, then it may not be accurate enough. i'll let you know when i've had mine developed hopefully it will be ok as 50D seems to be a well regarded stock and i find 100d a bit too sensitive sometimes. but i think this film is being perfed by cinevia who have been selling ...

Beaulieu MAR 8 Light Meter Battery

does anyone know how to remove the lightmeter battery from a Beaulieu MAR 8. it's a peculiar design of a rechargable battery behind the photocell. i've contacted Bjorn in Sweden but he doesn't do work on these cameras. i guess it's not important as i can use an external meter but it just bugs that i...

you do need a lens to focus the image onto the film and also to set the correct exposure.

i don't know these cameras so i don't know if the lenses are interchangable. if not then i think you will need to buy another camera.

I happen to know for a fact that a well known photographic chain here in the UK farms out its 8mm Cine transfer work to a one man operation who sets up a projector and videos it off the wall onto VHS. If you want it to DVD it is recorded from the VHS master. That is appalling no wonder people think...

I had a scary email through my website recently a guy in the UK was going to set up a film transfer business but he didn't know the difference between the 8mm formats and was trying to feed Standard/Regular 8 film into a Super 8 projector - frightening! Don't worry, now that you've set him straight...

Most companies that offer Super 8 telecine are cagey to the point of paranoia about which machines/methods they use. Presumably they don't want their 'secrets' to be known to the competition? I had a scary email through my website recently a guy in the UK was going to set up a film transfer busines...

You apply Kodak chemistry times when using FOMA reversal kits? Like first development 1 minute instead of 12??? I find this a bit hard to believe :) i have done just this to about 10 films in the last six months - the basic chemistry is the same. unless of course you have had a different experience...

I have found the Kodak development times work well with Foma Chemistry. but you need to stick rigidly to the timings because the kodak film is not as tough as Fomapan and your emulsion will literally melt away if you over do it! take a look at kodaks web page. http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/produ...
