Re: Focusing Canon 310XL

The options are a tape measure or to just guess.

Or you could try out a laser measure? Laser Tape Measure?
Not sure what they call them as they go by so many names.
You can get them from £10.00.

Good luck!
Chris.

Re: Scratches on Newly Developed Film

I have had a problem with film being scratched with black lines. The scraches on mine were at the start of each shot for about 3-10 frames and sometimes they appeared again at the end of the shot too. I think the camera/cartridge did it. It was not in any way a processing fault. I also had a problem...

New uses for my telecine camera! Test pics.

Hi all, I've been using my mightex machine vision camera for telecines and it works great but it also came in handy for a couple of other things too! 1 Checking the focusing accuracy of a camera without using film. 2 To scan 120 film stills (or any other film stills) (1) I was lubing the focusing ri...

Re: First time Vision user. Exposure questions.

I was reading this as I have a 310xl and a Beaulieu and was looking to give advice but I'm not sure what you mean by notching. Do you mean re size the film speed notch of the cartridge? Or make a filter notch? Thanks, Chris. PS Never thought about the notches on 200t and 500t but it has always come ...

Re: jack on Nizo 156

I've just had a look at my 561 macro model. I tried a 2.5mm jack in the socket and it was very loose. I then tried the original Nizo remote and it had the same fit, booth very loose. I don't have any batteries to try and see it the Nizo romote works (as I have never tried it out). So, maybe it has a...

Re: Where to go in San Fancisco and where to buy S8 stuff?

Cool, I'll check out Adolph Gasser. We were thinking of hiring a bicycles, but we might hire a car if there is stuff to see out of bicycle range. Does anywhere do 120film processing and printing? If there is a 24hr or 48hr service somewhere I can get some photographs processed and printed while I'm ...

Where to go in San Fancisco and where to buy S8 stuff?

I'm off to San Francisco soon (I've never been to the US before) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a 1st timer. I was wondering where to buy super 8 (I’ll bring some with me, it’s just in case I run out) and if there are any good camera shops? I found Action Camer...

Re: Raid for telecine - SATA raid or IDE raid?

Thanks for the info guys. So, avoid 150 sata raid setups - which is what is on my motherboard - so I'll need to get a raid card. There is so much choice when it comes to raid cards, I guess best to go with a pcie card? (as I can use PCI or PCIE on my PC) Next is to look into which raid cards and har...

Re: Super8 telecine

How about The Widescreen Centre or Todd-AO here in the UK. http://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/Catalogue/TELECINE_Services.html http://www.todd-ao.co.uk/super8mm.htm Todd AO stopped processing but I believe they still do super 8 telecine. The Widescreen Centre is cheaper for smaller amounts of film. ...

Re: Sticky shutter? on Beaulieu 4008ZM

You are not supposed to run the camera off the charger (in other words use the charger as a power adaptor) with the 4008zm. You need to use battery power. If the battery is dead you could make your own pack. I have posted pictures of my home made beaulieu battery pack here. http://www.filmshooting.c...

Raid for telecine - SATA raid or IDE raid?

Hello, I'm looking to setup a raid drive for my telecine device and I have read from Moviestuff's site and his posts here that it is best to use an IDE raid set up rather than just using an SATA drive. But what about an SATA raid set up. My motherboard support SATA raid 0 so was looking at giving th...

Re: Pictures of a home made beaulieu 4008zm battery pack.

Reflex is right, rechargeable AAA and AA are usually 1.2v. I should have stated rechargeable AAA not just AAA, sorry. I have found that when first charged the NiMH cells peak at a little under 1.4. Not sure if that is a problem long term, I'm guessing the original cells did this too. All modern NiMH...
