Re: 500T in Adelaide city street at night

Tscan, As you say more stock choice is always good. You also say a new Ektachrome would be a generation ahead of Vision3. Based on that, the new Ektachrome 100D should be better in which case it would match the old Kodachrome 40T. That would be nice. Just as a side note, I once read in an old camera...

Re: Best setup for a Super 8 Sync Sound Production in 2018?

After posting my reply, I realised the solution to your project is easy. The new Kodak Max 8 camera! How could I forget? The camera has a 1.65 ratio picture area, takes all the Super 8 films, has exchangeable lens mount, has sound recorded to digital media, has a flip out video screen and only costs...

Re: 500T in Adelaide city street at night

Nice effort Patrick, Just wondered what speed this was filmed at as some of the movement of people seems a bit fast? I shot a film at night on Ektachrome 160G years ago with a Canon 514XL and was happy with the results. That camera can run at 9 FPS which I used for shots that didn't have any motion ...

Re: Best setup for a Super 8 Sync Sound Production in 2018?

Hi h.rashid, It's good to hear you want to shoot film. The look is unique but I don't need to tell you that. My thoughts on your questions; Regards a crystal sync camera, I only know of the Canon 1014 XL-S and the Beaulieu 7008 that can be converted by Pro8. Maybe there are others. Both cameras run ...

Re: Super 8 Max Projector

As you probably already know the modification to the camera for Max 8 is a slight widening of the film gate. Essentially there is very little mechanical difference subjected to the film between Super 8 and Max 8 for a camera conversion and in most cases the film only goes through the camera once. Fo...

Re: The Super 8 Web Portal

Good work Juergen,
I bought the Super 8 camera book from you years ago, still have it. This new site looks good and I suppose Kodak will be using it for a lot of their announcements. Bit of a scoop for you!
Cheers

Greetings!

Hi fellow film enthusiasts. I just joined this discussion forum, so just a quick introduction of myself. I've been involved with the Super 8 film format for quite a while, making some short films as well as repairing cameras and projectors for myself and occasionally for others. So far I've done all...

Re: Super 8 Max Projector

Max 8 in my opinion is not ideal to run through a projector as there is too much risk of damage to the edge of the image. The film transport through the projector relies on contact being made to both sides of the film. With Max 8 there just isn't enough edge space on the image side for safe transpor...

Re: Canon 514XL-S and Kodak 200T, tungsten light questions.

Hi zabel, Please ignore the comment about the 814xl camera as it was a reply for to another member. Regards to your query I know this camera. Firstly, the Canon 514xls camera registers cartridges at 40ASA and 160ASA Tungsten so your 200ASA will be slightly overexposed but since it's negative it will...

Re: Canon 514XL-S versus 814XL Electronic

Hi Zabel, I know both of the cameras you have. Canon made top class Super 8 cameras. I have seen a lot of footage from a friend that had the 514xls and it always looked good with Kodachrome. However one weakness this camera has is it doesn't have manual aperture control. It does have an aperture loc...
