Is there any way that we can make this thread (or a thread with a more specific title) a Sticky? I think this is pretty big news, considering that it essentially marks the end of an era for what was once a very convenient and inexpensive method for processing K40 in the USA.

Re: Scotness

No hot spot, no flicker, even a bit sharp! Obviously a good 3ccd (?) camera with a good lense. What was the distance between the projector and the screen - and what was the screen? Well done. Any other clips you can show us - any with human faces? Thanks for the compliments. As for the hot spot, I ...

It's a sound projector, right? Actually, my projector isn't capable of playing the magnetic track on sound striped S8 film. I think the "Filmsound" name comes from the fact that a B+H cassette recorder can be connected to the projector and automatically play back audio recorded through th...

What projector did you use? I used a Bell & Howell Filmsound 8 projector...a "hand me down" from an uncle. There's nothing really special about it, and sometimes the projector seems to lose focus on one side of the image, although fortunately this didn't happen during the transfer. Th...

My Kodachrome Transfer with GL2 (Clip Uploaded)

Hi all. Well, the first test rolls from my new Beaulieu 7008PRO (fresh from an overhaul by Bjorn) are in, and while I usually enjoy my films simply through projection, I thought I'd try some DIY transfer this time and transfer a few clips to video. I think the transfer turned out pretty good...certa...

Bjorn Andersson - Highly Recommended for Beaulieu Service!

A few months ago, I purchased a Beaulieu 7008PRO on eBay, and as the camera's film transport was not running and I wanted to get the camera overhauled anyway, I sent it off to Bjorn Andersson in Sweden for repair and overhaul service. I decided to send the camera to Bjorn based on his excellent repu...

John,

I had two rolls of K40 processed by Dwayne's (through Wal-Mart) about a week and a half ago, and both came back in excellent shape. The film was very clean and the colors looked wonderful with no streaking whatsoever. Kinda sad that I only have 3 rolls of K40 left...

Best Price / Source for Super 8 Leader?

Just curious if anyone might be able to suggest a good source for S8 leader. I know a number of film supply houses sell 50' reels of white leader, but I'm curious if there's someplace that generally has the best price for white S8 leader and perhaps sells it in reels longer than 50'.

Thanks!

Re: Sending Ektachrome 64T through Walmart

Like I said, I dropped a cart of 64T E K T A C H R O M E off at my local Albertson's kodak drop box and got processes E K T A C H R O M E back in a week and a half. It cost me a grand total of $7.60. Clear now? I know, I know, .. it just sounds so crazy! I .. I uh.. I can't really believe it myself...

Re: Sending Ektachrome 64T through Walmart

So this is what you can do: Drop off your cart at anyplace that has a Kodak drop off bin or desk. In the SF bay area, that can be a grocery store like Safeway, Albertson's, or a drug store that has a Kodak counter. Target used to outlab to Kodak, but the ones around me are totally independent now I...

Not to hijack this thread and get off topic, but blue lines aside, I think your transfer looks excellent. What method did you use for transferring this footage?

Beaulieu 7008PRO Package...SOLD!...for $2500

I was browsing through eBay this morning and spotted this auction for a 7008PRO package which ended last night for a whoppinng $2500. Granted, the camera appears to be in good shape and comes with a decent lens (although not an Angenieux) and assortment of accessories, but wow...$2500. Personally, I...

Re: Light Metering & Normal/Low Light Mode on 6008/7008

Well, you could ask the one who serviced your camera. He is the expert and will gladly explain all to you. I certainly could do this, but if you read closely, I think you'll find that my question really isn't a technical question about the camera itself, but rather a question about metering techniq...
