Using A Scanner to Transfer S8?
Just curious if anyone has tried scanning S8 using a scanner and a negative scanning attachment. While it would certainly be a tedious process, in theory it would be possible to get very high resolution scans using a relatively inexpensive consumer device. Plus, for those who shoot S8 color negative...

Handling Film/Video Frame Rate Differences with WorkPrinter
Hopefully Roger or someone with a WorkPrinter can help out with this question. When performing a frame-by-frame capture using a WorkPrinter, how do you deal with the conversion from the film frame rate (the rate at which the film was originally shot, such as 18 or 24 FPS) to the 30 FPS rate of NTSC ...

Gauging Projection Speed (B&H Filmsound 8)
Does anyone know of a way to gauge the projection speed on a variable speed projector? I have a B&H Filmsound 8 projector, and it would be great if I could somehow figure out the projection speed, or calibrate the projector to a particular speed. By the way, does anyone know the variable speed r...

New Address for Kodak K-14 S8 Prepaid Processing?
I recall reading not too long ago something about Kodak closing their Fair Lawn, NJ office, so does anyone know of a new address for sending in proces paid K40 carts, or are we to still use the Fairlawn address? Also, has anyone mailed in any prepaid processing carts recently, and if so, what has be...

Thanks for the analogy, Roger...a very nice explanation. It does, however, bring up another question, and please forgive me if I'm missing something or just over-analyzing your response. In your stained glass example, obviously you would loose a great deal of detail if you were to videotape the proj...

DIY Transfer...Issues With Video Contrast
This evening I was experimenting with my homebrew super 8 transfer setup (my Canon GL2 shooting the projected image from a B&H projector). I haven't done too much experimentation yet using my GL2 for DIY telecine, but I did notice that when transfering outdoor scenes with high contrast (both bri...

Useful Filters in Premiere for Adjusting Neg. Transfers?
Just wondering if anyone might be able to suggest some filters in Premiere (I'm using Premiere Pro) that might be useful for tweaking the colors in a home transfer of color negative film. A while back, I shot a roll of Vision 200T and attempted transfering it myself using the following method: -When...

Fred, you mentioned that you've used Virtual Dub for inverting color negative films. I downloaded the program, but wasn't able to locate the RGB filter you mentioned. Is this a special plug-in I need to download, and if so, where would I find it? That imagae you uploaded looks pretty good, so maybe ...
