Re: Morse G3 processing tank
Its been a long time since I used a G3, even longer since I tried negative with one. IIRC you can use the same developer time as you do for reversal. You just have less steps: Developer, Stop, Fix, Wash.

Re: Fotokem Gift Certificate
You could try contacting staff or students at Cal Arts which still has an active 16mm student film production. Or posting on the Frameworks mailing list. Maybe the L.A. Craigslist would be worth a try?

Re: Latest UltraPan8 2.8 film "bikepolis!"
You've always do a nice pairing of music & images. I like how you continue to explore every aspect of biking culture in your work. If you aren't already, you should be posting your film links on biking message boards. I think its a good strategy for independent filmmakers to build up a reel of w...

Re: Book recommendations for experimenting with film stock
Recipes for Disaster by Helen Hill, is available as a pdf on the web. I don't have a link handy but it can be found. Its a pretty old book, most of the information is still good but they do often reference film stocks that are no longer made. A more recent book is Recipes for Reconstruction by Steve...

Re: Two of my 16mm films on Vimeo
Thx all for the comments! Chris - You really nailed it, memory (or what we think we remember) is a part of what these films are about. To me small gauge film is like memory itself. Sometimes damaged and grainy but beautiful and sharp (when we want it that way). Limited in scope and length, yet we al...

Two of my 16mm films on Vimeo
I recently publicly posted two new(ish) short films of mine on Vimeo that did the festival racket last year. Both are short experimental docs, using either hand processing or expired 16mm stock. Fans of B&W, dust and scratches will enjoy, others beware! 7246 120' WE: https://vimeo.com/31825344 S...

Re: Need advice:Finally can have any camera I want! WHICH ON
I've got a 1014XL-S and love it. I like how it feels and handles. The viewfinder is bright and easy to focus. The internal light meter has held up for me. My main wish is that Canon made such a quality camera that was a little more compact. The other problem with the Canon is the lack of a decent sl...

Caitlin, is the name of the character features in the upside down Degrassi Jr High footage in the first 10 seconds or so. To a certain Canadian generation its as famous as using a clip from The Beachcombers.

Re: LOW "Just Make It Stop" - Chromoflex UltraPan8 - unoffic
Really great stuff. I've taken Richard's workshop and had a lot of fun doing it and learning more about colour processing. But I didn't really think of any good ways to put it use but you put together a nice little alternate video. My only complaint is that it could use more Caitlin. If camera noise...

Re: "Film Only Showcase"
Best of luck with your screening! I've got a few questions for you that might be best answered publicly. When is this going to happen? What is your maximum run time? Would you accept a link to an online screener instead? What kind of work are you looking for? Or better yet what don't you want? - scr...

Grainy, these guys bought the optical printer and contact printer: http://processreversal.org/
However I believe they are shipping the stuff to upper New York state where they have a workspace/barn.

Hard to say without seeing a frame to judge. Did you use fresh chemistry? B&W tends to be quite durable with age. 2 years is not really too long a time. I've developed year old film with no noticeable bad results.

Re: 400ft-- 100ft Is there a easy way
If memory serves correct its 63 winds to fill a 100' spool. Kodak puts about 105' on a daylight spool to account for loss when loading it in the camera. If you have a clean darkroom/bathroom then the dust you will pick will be minor in my experience.

Re: Alphacine auction tomorrow
The optical printer apparently had been stripped of many useful parts like film gates. So someone picked over their equipment for a possible digital film service. Maybe Lightpress bought their film cleaner? Their main business is archival work and a the lack of local film cleaning would be problemat...

Alphacine auction tomorrow
Might be of interest to some or none but Seattle's late great Alphacine is holding an auction tomorrow: http://murphyauction.com/Auction/Details/556 Amongst the photos is the ViewMaster mounting machine that was an important part of their business as motion picture production declines. I wonder who ...
