How does the 7008 compare to the 6008??? Sometimes I think I ought to try for one of these just because its such a beautimus pieace of gear. How does it compare to the 1014e in picture quality??? There's a useful comparison chart of late series Beaulieu Super8 cameras at http://super8wiki.com/index...

This is a $2,500.00 camera IF the transaction's completed. As a long-time observer of eBay, I've found that members with very little feedback (or no feedback) will often 'battle it out' with other 'newbies,' driving the price of an item up to a ridiculous level. They'll then fail to pay for what the...

Steve Randall at http://www.bolexrepair.com is a very good source for fully refurbished Bolex P-series cameras. Not all models are always in stock, and, while the overhauled cameras aren't inexpensive, they're as close to new as you're likely to find. Steve also has spares and accessories for these ...

I use the simplest method possible, cutting the original reversal film, splicing it with a Bolex beveled cement splicer, and projecting it. I use a Minette S-5 viewer for Super 8 and a Zeiss Moviscop viewer for regular 8mm. When I was younger and more ambitious, I'd sometimes add a magnetic stripe t...

Because the front barrel of the lens on the Nizo 6080 rotates, you cannot use the scalloped lenshood shown, but only the round type. A better solution would be to purchase the compendium offered for this camera, which attaches to the camera body and not the lens. Any search of 'Nizo 6080' images on ...

This is the machine offered by F. & S. Marriott, I presume. Although I've not used the Hahnel Motormat 3000 viewer, viewers of this kind tend to have pickups for magnetic sound stripe and not an optical track. The Elmo Sound Editor 912/S that I own is of this kind, and, while it's a convenient w...

The Optasound ESTEC ($4,850.00 in the Super 8 Sound price list of April 1977) was made in small quantities and, as such, didn't benefit from the development that would have occurred had the format been more widely adopted. Even if you could find one of these machines, I suspect you'd need to spend a...

The series of regular 8mm amateur cameras were well made and are capable of producing very good images provided they're properly maintained. The irregular motor speed you describe is a sure indicator that the mechanism needs cleaning and lubrication. If you're unprepared to do this yourself, Steve R...

Extreme Wide Angle C-Mount Lenses for Beaulieu 4008 Series

I'm renewing my interest in Super 8 filmmaking after an absence of almost thirty years. In reassembling an outfit, I'd like to acquire a lens having a much wider field of view than is possible with the Schneider-Kreuznach 6-66mm f/1.8 Optivaron lens fitted to my Beaulieu 4008 ZM II. I believe the ac...
