Hia, Ive always used RS part number 494-124 silicone grease in a tube which seems to work just fine. However, I've had very little positive from my underwater filming! In air, the shots with the standard lens are great, but using the screw on wide lens underwater everything comes out a blur! Any ide...

Yeah, The adaptor does have some optics in it, so it's not just a thread adaptor. The one I have is a 42mm, I'm not sure if there were others? I don't think there are any lenses in the camera though. I've packed up most of my kit as we are about to move house (if all goes well!) so I can't check rig...

Hia, These seem to have become one of those illusive "grail" type cameras! It does have a removable lens, but unless you have the appropriate adaptor (and finding one is like finding like hen's teeth) it's not much use that it comes off! (it's not a "C" or anything standard that ...

Hia, As far as I know, the reason the mailer says amateur film is so that it does not attract any duty. If it were "professional" it would be of higher value and so you would have to pay an import duty on it. Also, it means the post office don't have to give you any compensation for losing...

OK folks, It's per 50ft by the way! Check out the web page at: http://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/cine.php#SUPER8PRINTS For the info from the horses mouth as they say. I'm intrigued to know if they mean that you need to pay for processing on top of this as well as the original processing??? It's a b...

Ok, I know no one's really interested, but in a feeble bid to up my post quota and to tie up the loose end that was this post: ;-) As mentioned in the original post I had a roll of K40 that I posted to Kodak Wimbledon within the UK come back from Switzerland in record time. It took about a week, whi...

Hia, I've been collecting all my "mystery frames" and even tried out my Rondo frame copier ( with considerable success) with a load some time back. I was going to post them too. I even have one from one of the televised Straight Eight competition! The one that was shot in reverse ;-) We re...

Hmm, Kodak are driving ahead with digital pretty hard. They already have their finger in the digital pie with image sensor technology which is is like sawing off the branch you are standing on in my mind! (self fulfilling prophesy or sensible forward thinking depending on your stance) But, this is t...

Actually it's not always the case that digital features are delivered on tape. There are a number of options including fibre, portable hard-disk, satelite, cable and DVD roms etc.

Trying to keep showing the "reel" stuff!

Hi again, I'm back to vent my spleen! OK, you might have noticed, my allegance lies in the film quarter, but I do own some digital devices. It's usually through frustration with these that I get to like the analogue nature of film more and more! There is a lot to be said for keeping things as...

Hia, There are still numerous problems surrounding the whole area of digital cinema. The ideal of "downloading" films is still tricky as the HUGE amount of data required for a 35mm quality feature is still not that easily handled. You will need a fibre to make this a viable option really. ...

Unfortunatly, the 800 doesn't have the "auto B" function, that feature is only found on the XX1 models as far as I know. I've never tried this with an 800 I'm afraid, sold that one as I prefer the auto option! I'm not sure how much the iris comes into play with the XX1's, but the times var...
