Re: Making Kodak Film - Second Edition

Hmmmmmmmmm, they're threatening that if you don't buy now they'll jack up the price to $125 at the beginning of the new year. But what really happens?..... I hope my library gets it cause I'd rather spend money on film or lenses or something...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

I have an 18-5 Super and an 18-5L for Super 8. The 18-5 Super takes the same lens as the 18-5 Regular 8mm models but the 18-5L takes a larger diameter lens. The claw on the Meopta is at least two frames below aperture. Hmmmmmm, how many frames below is the Keystone? I know the bolex camera is 4 for...

Re: Anyone here own a Leicina Special?...

Thanks Pip, I'll look for Santo... Thanks Silverhalide, you really like those magazine cameras don't you? Have you tried modifying a cartridge to accept single perf? I loaded and ran a couple magazines in that brown bell and howell with the hatch in back. You know the one? Loved the smell of its gre...

Re: Anyone here own a Leicina Special?...

Well heck if that didn't stress me out. As I was putting away the Leicina, I realized I have several cameras with AA batteries in them, just plotting to destroy them. Emptied them out... Thanks for sharing the pic and video's! I like just about all your films! Yeah, Sciolist straightend me out on t...

Anyone here own a Leicina Special?...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that these cameras have pin registration with a fixed pin and a camshaft that lifts the film off the pin just before it moves to the next frame? So I guess the pin would be 2 frames above where the film gets exposed, but where would the claw...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

Nice!.. Do you also have a Bolex projector for super 8? I can use the same lens from my 8mm Bell and howell on my super 8 bell and howell but it's not so sharp in the corners on the super 8 unless the screen is very curved. How many frames below the aperture is the claw on these meopta cameras?

Re: Which of these 3 cameras is best for low light?

One of the best low light cameras is the Canon 310XL with the f/1.0 lens. There is a manual focus and an auto focus version. I have used the AF310XLS and could take wedding films in poorly lit missions with good results. The Kodachrome was amazing that it could be used with so little light. J.S. Be...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

For Regular 8mm I run a Bolex 18-5, Bolex M8 and a Keystone K109-D. They all seem to have very good registration but now that you brought this up I'll be paying closer attention to it. I do have some commercial 8mm prints, the spooky movies will be coming out for Halloween. Nice! That Keystone is s...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

Ok, I misunderstood what you where talking about. It does have a metal tab that holds the film from the side but I don't know how well. If you look at the third picture I posted with the gate there is a round button in the middle of the pressure plate, the tab is right next to it. I have film in th...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

The pressure plate is spring loaded and it pops off for easy cleaning of the film path. I have several hundred feet of Ektachrome in the freezer plus I ran some old Kodachrome through it to test. I know I won't see most of the scratches until I put it in the projector but that's a chance I'm willin...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

You took the gray plate off? Does the gate have a spring that puts side pressure on the film to keep it from weaving side to side? If I were you I think I'd run one side of a Fomapan first, who would give you more ektachrome cheap if it has sloppy registration, a light leak or scratches the film? Do...

Re: Meopta Admira 8IIa question

Can't truly say I know anything about it but it looks like a fascinating one! Have you run and processed a film in it yet? After seeing this I googled it and found one apart. Did you see this yet? https://www.sbazar.cz/AViktor/detail/16 ... -admira-8f

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD

I'd definitely vote to keep it in 4:3. Not only is that the aspect ratio you filmed in, it will look the best and there is nothing wrong with 4:3 even for filming today. +1 Your film has been shot for 4:3, so 4:3 is the only possible answer. Years ago, widescreen films got visually mutilated with P...

Re: Which of these 3 cameras is best for low light?

220, I think.--J.S. Nice! Does it seem to have a metal chassis so the gears still mesh if the body warps? If not I've been wondering what a Kodak ektasound is like because I've seen at least some have a 230 degree shutter an f 1.2 lens and a completely separate viewfinder. I'm thinking if I don't l...
