Re: New Universal pricing w/free shipping!
Actually, that is something we are working on. It would be a combination film cleaner and rewind unit. Seems like it would be useful for archives and shops that transfer film regularly. I was tempted to pick up a cleaning machine when a local lab went out of business but it was the size of a vendin...

Re: New Universal pricing w/free shipping!
Roger, have you thought about creating a film cleaning unit? Maybe you can ask your customer base if there's a market for it but I bet a simple motorized cleaning solution would help improve the scans even more.

Re: I have a secret. Please don't tell anyone.
So nice to finally be sending them more film! Must have sent 100 rolls of Kodachrome and Ektachrome to them over the years. Never once had a problem with their processing and the price is great too. $12 per roll works for me. They haven't changed their website since about 2005...except for putting t...

Re: Ektachrome Is Back!
I have a feeling Kodak may be a little surprised at the demand for the new Ektachrome both in Super 8 and still film. The small camera shop in Dallas that promotes film is selling out everything they get in. Doesn't mean Kodak is completely out of the woods but hopefully a good sign. https://interne...

Re: The Future of Film
Interesting take on film use skipping a generation...seems reasonable. Unfortunately a lot of knowledge in the industry may have been lost because of the "digital or bust" attitude. He doesn't mention how much of the move to digital was pushed by long time industry veterans that were looki...

Re: New Universal 2K upgrade review
PS: For some reason, he says that the 16mm gate has audio. I dunno why he said that since it doesn't. Anyway, a nice review. He says it does 16mm "optical" which in theory it probably does...you'd just need to run a separate program to convert the scanned "audio" to actual sound...

Re: Any tutorial on how to capture color negative with RetroScan-HD Universal?
Sounds like something Roger could do. There's a YouTube video on how to do everything else, there should be one for the RetroScan. Much easier than reading manuals.

I miss them for how terribly bad they sounded. It was like a telephone recording. Uniquely horrendous.Andreas Wideroe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 8:38 am On the contrary, I don't miss sound cartridges at all. Having sound striped on film is so 1970s. ;) Much better to use an external digital recorder today.

Seems like that might be a good project for a 3D printer...Silverdream wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 4:16 pm Maybe I'll have a go at making a new gear. Wonder if anyone has had success with moulding a fine tooth gear?
This Canon camera is way to complicatedly (big word here) designed! These bloody engineers should stick to drawing rockets!

Re: The State of Double Super 8
My Kodak rep is looking into it. If the Super 8 manufacturing process is as described it will just boil down to how much they want to sell to overcome the "inconvenience factor" of pulling it early from the process and spooling down to 100' loads.

Re: The State of Double Super 8
Good to know they at least Spectra can split it...that was my main concern. For a laugh I'll check with my Kodak rep and see what they would need for a special order or if they even have the machines to perf that. Would be nice to have some 50D negative or the Ektachrome when it comes out. Any DS8 u...
