Re: Shikashika screening at AFI

...Thanks!! screening at the AFI Silver was a real treat and Silverdocs was great. We went to NYC for a few days after the festival and just got back to Seattle. I wish I could make it to New Zealand. I was told my short is playing with "Mutum" a feature from Brazil. However, I could not f...

Re: article: changing landscape of film distribution

....here is a link to the documentary festival that I'm attending next week. It's a great one.

I don't have to worry about selling my film. I'm just going to take in the experience and get ramped up for my next short film production later this summer.

Re: article: changing landscape of film distribution

...it's always a money problem because a successful 4-wall requires a substantial promotional effort and that means spending time courting the press and hiring a great graphic designer to make posters that every teenager wants to hang in their bed room. That costs a lot of money and it's hard to fin...

Re: article: changing landscape of film distribution

..the internet is great for promotional efforts, but still not a cinematic way to view films - in my opinion. I think the future is in microcinemas. An important part of the cinema experience is getting people together in the dark to marvel over the magic lantern. In some ways the cinema arts are in...

Re: Beaulieu 4008/2008 Battery Re-cell

..cool. Good to know. I only have one battery for mine and it's been re-celled two years ago and works fine; however, I need more so if you end up re-celling some and want to re-sell those - please let me know cause I would consider buying. As an alternative I may have to find one of those AA kits f...

Re: What format to telecine on

...Digibeta, BetaSP and DVcam basically all look the same when you are projecting in the cinema. Digibeta will buy you a little wiggle room in post if you decide to do any chroma work, but of course the best practice is to make sure your colorist understands what you want at transfer time then you d...

Re: New York City July 8th through the 15th.

...I'm going to be in NYC that last week of June - but my film is screening at the Long Island Film Expo which runs July 9th - 17th. Should you be interested in attending the fest for a day or two - I'm sure I could get you a pass. I just can't afford to go - bad timing for me - wish I could - seems...
